I am a 22 year old straight male 

I was unfortunately born in Russia and was born with a disability called fetal alcohol spectrum disorder because my birth mother was drinking when pregnant with me which basically gives me the maturity of a 15 year old but i am normal on the outside.  I enjoy making music specifically dubstep. I am in college persuing my EMT-B and eventually my paramedic certification and dream of becoming a TEMS (tactical emergency medical services) member which are the guys that go in behind LEOs(law enforcement officers) during a mass shooting or other violent scenario and treat casualties by applying tourniquets to stop major bleeding dealing with airway emergencies and performing advanced procedures such as cricothyrodotomies which is a surgical airway and starting IVs. 

I have been interested in medicine/medical related things since a small child after a traumatic experience with the anesthesia induction for a tonsillectomy in 2006 AKA being held down and induced with sevoflurane. My main focus has always been airway management and ventilation for some reason but I embrace all aspects of medicine. My parents got me my first resuscitation bag in 2014 as a reward for passing my first aid merit badge. In 2019 I started a small collection of mostly disposables and have built on that since. I bought my first patient monitor in 2022 which is a Philips intellivue MP5. I have been continuously scrutinized by my family for all of the equipment I own and buy with them saying it’s “freaky” “weird”  and then thinking I have an obsession with it. Then also saying “you don’t need any of that stuff nor have the training to use it” 

In early 2023 I joined a med tech enthusiast discord server started by a small YouTuber who has a collection of defibrillators including a lifepak 12 which convinced me to buy my first defibrillator monitor which is a Philips heartstart MRx 

I am also an outdoor emergency care technician (OEC-T)  for the national ski patrol and have saved numerous lives but have experienced death before which is a whole completely different story if you want to hear that story just let me know. Also In summer of 2025 I got certified as an EMT basic.

I’m also a Boy Scout and am an Eagle Scout. 

-My blog is mostly about medical technology I do not have a med fetish but I have no judgement towards those that do.

-Despite me being a first responder None of what I post is medical advice don’t ask me for medical advice cuz I’ll just say that you need to talk to your doctor. Or if it’s an emergency to call 911.

-My profile is 18+ only, I don’t support minors being publicly involved in fetish or similar communities. Fetishes are an awesome thing to explore and people tend to find out about them in their teens. I think it’s perfectly okay for teens to learn about fetishes and to experiment, but do not interact with fetish or sexual communities until you turn 18.

homemade oxygen cascade filling system

This is a system I built to not only be able to refill my emergency oxygen cylinder I have in my personal trauma bag that lives in my car but also to use as a part of my sim lab. It takes 3 liters per minute of 90-95% oxygen from a inogen at home concentrator that I have in my closet and runs it through a compressor which is the Invacare homefill 2 and compresses it into 2 E cylinders it also automatically shuts off once it’s reached 2000PSI it can be used to fill smaller cylinders such as my D cylinder or smaller. I also added 2 regulators one which is a 50PSI and the other is a 100 PSI. The 50 PSI one is used for low flow applications such as an oxygen mask or BVM while the 100PSI regulator has a hose connected to it that runs to my zoll EMV+ for its high pressure oxygen supply. I essentially have a source of unlimited oxygen as long as the sieve beds in my concentrator put out 90% oxygen. Also all of the connections and parts are absolutely pressure rated.

reminder to put filters on the inspiratory limb of your ventilators or CPAP devices. I had one on my lowenstein Luisa just because I thought it looked good especially with a dual limb setup and not even a week later this is what it looked like. you can clearly see the difference between the old one and the one on the left which is brand new. despite having a particle filter on the turbine intake of the ventilator you should also place one on the inspiratory limb of the ventilator circuit because that turbine will pick up any dust from the air and will deliver it through your mask and into your lungs and can cause illness. It’s probably why I got a minor cold on Christmas Day.

Producing emergency oxygen

I now have a way to fill my own emergency oxygen cylinders

I recently bought 2 oxygen concentrators off of a site called dotmed and scored a great deal on a machine called the Invacare homefill II which can fill oxygen cylinders up to 2000PSI directly from a concentrator as long as the concentrator is producing 90-95% oxygen and it only needs 3 liters of oxygen flow from the concentrator. I was able to fill the D cylinder I carry in the trauma bag I keep in my car. I also got an E cylinder which I will use as an emergency source of oxygen not just for if there is a medical emergency at my house because I’m now a certified EMT but if for some reason I use my D cylinder during a medical emergency in the community I can transfill from the full E cylinder directly into the D cylinder to partially fill it quickly. The homefill system is kinda slow at filling cylinders especially the E cylinder but I’m extremely happy I have it because it allows me to produce my own bottled oxygen.

5 Cardiac Science PowerHeart G3 pros. Unlike most AEDs these can be classified as defib monitors because they are capable of 3 lead ECG using an adapter and they have a manual shock button. I’ll be selling 3 of them to people on the Medtech Discord server for $100 each + shipping without pads or a battery which is still a bargain for a G3 pro as they usually don’t go for any less $300.

Got a New ventilator

This is the lowenstein Luisa which is also the only home care designed ventilator capable of high flow oxygen therapy. it can use literally ANY type of breathing circuit, ive tested it with dual limb AND coaxial anesthesia circuits, it can also function with or without an external pressure sensing line, also works with single hoses with separate passive exhalation valve or vented face mask and circuits with an active exhalation valve. This ventilator is designed as a replacement for the discontinued Philips respironics trilogy series of ventilators. This ventilator is so much more capable than my zoll EMV+ which requires both an external pressure sensing line and an active circuit or it won’t work whatsoever. This one also does normal CPAP and bi level with S/T mode. My zoll could kinda do CPAP and bi level but since it had a radial compressor instead of a full turbine I would easily exceed the compressors limits and it wasn’t that great for someone who was spontaneously breathing. the only downside to this ventilator is that it uses a low pressure continuous flow oxygen source vs my Zoll being able to use a 50PSI oxygen source directly from a cylinder or wall source.

Had a marvelous conversation with a woman in her late 60s who told me about having to undergo 3 surgeries on her eye in the early 1970s when she was living in Ireland.

Due to an injury while playing her eye had been messed up. Doctors performed 3 surgeries but ultimately had to remove the eye.

She told me that for the first 2 surgeries nurses came to her room with "the machine" and anesthetized her in her bed before "taking her to theater".

She recalled the mask having a "yucky rubbery smell like an old tire" and that she'd been told to count backwards from 10. She claimed to have made it to 11 before "the lights went out"!

For her third surgery (eye removal) she said she was anesthetized in theater by an "old fat fellow who said nothing" and that the gas made her cough.

I dug a little more as subtly as I could but she changed the subject and I chose not to push my luck.

I'm inclined to believe the in-room inductions were high concentrations of nitrous oxide (70%+) since she recalled no other smell.

The in-theater induction was probably straight halothane/fluothane in oxygen at 5% rather than an incremental induction starting at .05% up to 5% with 1% increments every 3 breaths or so. An initially high concentration of halo/fluothane could trigger a cough reflex.

Just my humble opinion.
