“what about robin” rovickie bears almost no plot significance besides being a catalyst ultimately causing will to accept himself. vickie was only created to be robins love interest, and was completely discarded for the epilogue, having possibly even broken up with robin during the time skip. got together off screen, broke up (?) off screen. theyre cute and i love them but they are bare minimum queer representation.

it didn’t have to be byler. if the duffers wanted to create a compelling queer love story, they could’ve also introduced a new character possibly around season 3 or season 4 to allow time for a good amount of development, while also being a slow-ish burn love interest for will. they could’ve written that, but they didn’t, and that’s half of the reason i wanted byler to happen— the show lacks queer relationships with genuine depth. every straight couple has 4-5 seasons of development, while all we got was a mostly irrelevant lesbian couple that existed for 1 season and a possible epilogue boyfriend for will that we saw for like 10 seconds.

it’s not our fault we expected more from a show meant to uplift the outcasts, freaks, weirdos.

there was no good reason not to have byler disproven in s4 to make room for wills self acceptance arc (and maybe new love interest) in s5 if the duffers weren’t intentionally stringing us along. there was no good reason to dilute mileven so much until the last episode if the duffers weren’t intentionally stringing us along. there was no good reason to directly parallel mike and will to rovickie multiple times and have it amount to nothing if the duffers weren’t intentionally stringing us along. if i see one more person saying it wasnt queerbait i will crystallize

show where love is used to defeat evil (e.g. max “i just needed you” mayfield) having one of the only queer characters in the show, instead of using love, using “self acceptance” as the key to unlocking his powers and defeating vecna. yeah ok sure that’s not at ALL homophobic or poorly written… of course…..

the concept of stranger things, one of the most beloved tv shows in western pop culture, releasing 3 episodes with such poor writing that people have genuine reason to believe that some important scenes were cut

even funnier if cutgate ISNT real, that means the writing JUST sucked that much that there was evidence to prove a false allegation. yikes either way
