Finally found the right words that encapsulate some hard to retrieve feelings... Reflection is a step towards recovery (thank you J.birdsmith); Elastic I was an elastic band, once. Do you know the way I mean? The world keeps pulling and You keep stretching, And stretching, And stretching, And you think for sure You're going to snap. This thought causes you To tense up. You know you're likely To crack when you're rigid, But you can't help it. You tense right up. You're convinced you're about To fling bits of yourself Around your life. And you know everyone will duck To avoid you as you Come at them, Because they know you're going To have an impact. They know You're going to hurt. And you know it, too, So you don't blame them When they take cover, But you can't help but think That maybe you wouldn't be in this Position in the first place If they had kept their arms open To you all along. -J.birdsmith
