i really want my damn bw reboot but the beast wars cast in general deserves more recognition by hasbro, like,

dinobot was one of the first “morally grey” transformers and THE FIRST transformer to be voted into the Hall of Fame by fans. his story was deep and moving and explicitly addresses the fact that, even though he is with the maximals now, if they were to be rescued he would be imprisoned just because of his heritage. the fact that he is never in ANYTHING any more is a fuckin crime.

rattrap is supremely multi-faceted by the standards of his time; casual viewers might see him as disloyal or cowardly but anyone paying actual attention will see that that’s just a facade he puts on: he’s the most loyal maximal in the show, never faltering even once, and he puts himself in the most danger for his cause on purpose. he’s also the most capable maximal; he steps in and leads while primal’s out of commission, absolutely kills it, and he is a demolitions expert.

primal is just imho the best optimus we’ve got, like, Hot Take but most other optimus’s (with, like, TFA being an exception) rely on fandom interpretation to actually be interesting because hasbro is stuck on them being an Archetype so they never really get a canon personality. optimus primal didn’t have to adhere to that archetype and we got a gorilla dad who’s trying his best, god damn it, and he has flaws and weaknesses and actually feels nice and well-rounded instead of being Incorruptibly Pure.

and then just. rampage and depth charge’s whole story. the whole thing. all of that. that shit was good. please watch beast wars.

ypu ever think about how rampage has killed many people even though he can feel all of his victims pain and that means the experience has to be worth the suffering somehow in his view because no matter how much he cackles about how PAin is his ONLY FRIEnD he clearly Does Not Like being in pain, since the threat of it is the only thing keeping him in the predacons in the first place, so if he doesnt actually enjoy feeling the pain of the people he kills theres a good chance he actually does it to feel their pain stop when he kills them as some kind of vicarious experience of the sweet release of death

then does your brain ever completely switch gears and remember the bit in mbmbam that started as a discussion of milk and ended with the creation of an entire mythos based around a fictional candy-dealing singer-songwriter republican presidential candidate auto repair shop owner vampire assassin named tit liquid

okay so that episode of beast wars where the predacons blow up and then act like they don’t know nobody so the maximals are like cools war’s over let’s go home but dinobot is like guys i am literally a war criminal i can’t go with you and optimus is like :( and then dinobot gets shot in the ass when he finds out the predacons are a lot less dead than previously realized and optimus is like i am NOT leaving him behind because i’m gay and then dinobot is like You Should Have Left Me Behind and optimus is like no i’m gay and then Throws dinobot onto the ship, stranding himself on a planet full of enemies if it means dinobot gets to leave which doesn’t matter anyways because megatron is gay and homophobic and ruins everything and then cheetor hugs optimus and optimus pats his head while looking gayly at dinobot? that invented gay rights.

okay so that episode of beast wars that Literally opens with optimus and dinobot out picking flowers together, where optimus gets distracted trying to help dinobot and gets shot in the chest with a thing that makes him go Ape Shitt and dinobot suggests literally the entire episode they just cut him loose, the episode that ends with optimus waking up to dinobot by his bedside, with fucking FLOWERS that dinobot no doubt went out to get to make him feel better? that episode is the only reason gays can marry.
