MEGJASHI hosts a national SOS helpline for children and young people. Through cooperation with schools, teachers and the Ministry of Education, MEGJASHI works on the integration of peace education into the national education system, promoting nonviolence, dialogue, social cohesion, and democratic values. For our CPS programme "Harmonising Peace and Reconciliation: A holistic approach for the Western Balkans" together with our partner organisation “The First Children's Embassy in the World Megjashi” we are looking for an International Peace Worker (f/m/d) in N. Macedonia/Skopje (38,5 hours/week) The position is designed as a shared placement between the partner organisation and KURVE Wustrow’s regional office in Skopje. The International Peace Worker will divide his/her working time approximately equally between both. As this is a newly created position, the International Peace Worker will be expected to actively shape the role together with the partner organisation and the regional office. We are therefore looking for a person with initiative, independence and the ability to turn a broad mandate into concrete priorities and practical steps, while working closely and sensitively with both teams. These are your tasks At the partner organisation (approximately 50% of working time) As part of the placement with the partner organisation, the International Peace Worker will mainly support the team in strengthening the visibility, communication, planning and long term sustainability of the programme’s peace education and peacebuilding work. Supporting the development and implementation of a media and communication strategy for the programme. This includes situational analysis, strategy development, content planning and production, media outreach, stakeholder and community engagement, and capacity building for long-term handover. Strengthening the visibility of programme activities and results through social media, website content, press releases, media relations and other accessible communication formats. Supporting the partner organisation in translating complex peace education and peacebuilding processes into clear and engaging messages for different audiences, including young people, teachers, communities, institutions, civil society actors and the wider public. Supporting the development and implementation of the peace education project (including monthly and annual planning processes and reporting). Contributing to the development and implementation of the programme’s sustainability plan in close cooperation with the Peace Education Programme team, with a focus on long-term impact, ownership and continuation of key approaches. At KURVE Wustrow’s regional office (approximately 50% of working time) Within the regional office, the International Peace Worker will contribute to strengthening the visibility, communication and outreach of the wider CPS programme in the Western Balkans Supporting partner organisations in the development of media strategies, communication approaches and campaigns related to peace education, reconciliation, dealing with the past and nonviolent conflict transformation. Helping to translate complex peacebuilding processes into accessible messages for different audiences, including youth, educators, civil society actors, institutions, donors and the wider public. Supporting the use of social media, digital tools and new media formats to foster online engagement, regional exchange and visibility among young people in the Western Balkans. Skills you have Relevant knowledge and experience in peace education, peacebuilding, reconciliation and/or civil conflict transformation, preferably with an understanding of the Western Balkans context. Strategic Communications & Community Engagement: Experience in designing and implementing holistic peacebuilding communication strategies—including situational analysis, content production, and PR—while leveraging digital channels (social/new media) and outreach campaigns to effectively increase visibility and engage stakeholders, communities, and the broader public. Experience in planning, organising and implementing different formats, such as workshops, network meetings, and exchange formats. Experience in working with schools, teachers and young people in the fields of peace, civic or multicultural education is an asset. A strong willingness and ability to work in an intercultural context and a mixed environment, maintaining sensitivity, adaptability and a high level of self-reflection when collaborating with diverse groups and in politically sensitive contexts. The ability to work independently and reliably while remaining closely integrated into the partner organisation’s team and the wider regional CPS programme structure. Flexibility, team spirit, patience, the ability to deal with complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations. Professional command of English; knowledge of Macedonian and/or other languages of the Western Balkans would be a strong asset, or willingness to learn Macedonian.
