Indefinite hiatus.

Hello everybody, I guess I've been on this for a while, but I just wanted to make it official. Recently I've had no motivation to play the sims or go on tumblr at all, and I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. I'll probably be off tumblr for a while, once school starts again in September even if I want to I won't have any time. In case you still want to access me, you can follow my Twitter @megm_26. I really don’t care about EA adding free stuff to base game but if they’re going to do that why not make the POC-friendly hairs accessible? that’s something a lot of people have complained about and they probably wouldn’t be facing any arguments for adding more inclusive content to the game. everyone should be able to make themselves in the sims, and the base game should reflect that.

I'll never understand people complaining about random CAS items being made free. You bought the packs for the gameplay, not just for some random shirt or hair or whatever. I paid about $20 for Get Famous (it was on sale but this still applies if you paid full price) and 2 shirts from Get Famous are now in the base game. I paid $20 dollars for the new gameplay and new world, not for some random shirts. The main focus of packs are gameplay, it's not like they made a patch that introduces the fame system or adds Del Sol Valley to the base game. I don't think it's worth it to complain about what maybe 1 cent of your purchase went to.

I've heard a few things going around that the new redesign is somehow supposed to be EA's way to market to young people, and as a young person I absolutely hate it. I'm a young teen, not some toddler that will go "LOOK BRIGHT COLORS!!" and want to buy it. It's also really inconsiderate to people who have conditions that might cause them to get heavy headaches cuz of the bright colors, you can't exactly close your eyes during the main menu. I don't exactly hate the box art, but there could definitely be a lot of improvements. The loading screen burns my eyes. I really don't know what the heck was going through the Sims team's minds when they made this.

footnote? i don’t hate the new cover but i still like the original a lot better for a few reasons

FIRST - why do they have such similar facial features (bieber cut, both camera guys and beanie lesbian all have more or less the same face prove me wrong) and why do they all look like they’re in their 20s? you’d think that the years they spent diversifying the game would mean their new cover reflects that huh

SECOND - all the sims more or less have the same facial expression or just very standard/boring ones. in the original cover you’ve got (L to R) swooning, flirting, disgust, slightly more snobby disgust, fascination, self-satisfaction/sassiness, bewilderment, and laughter and they’re all interacting with eachother in fun ways. You can almost make up stories for everyone based on how the pic flows. 

Now, with the new one, what does it tell you? Uh…well theres a lady eating cookies…one guy is really into those cookies…you’ve got not one but two people taking pictures? So theres that…uh…some phones….some Gal Pals.

Like??? Tell a story! What kind of emotions will your game have? Have Beiber cut turning his nose up at the cookies. Now he hates chocolate chips and having fun but his girlfriend is still smitten because she doesn’t love herself. Get the camera out of the blonde guys hand. That’s a terrible angle to take a picture anyway. Have him reaching for a cookie instead. Give him a really intense face and have his tongue stickin out like he is on a mission and wants to devour the whole plate. WHERE is the girl in the green looking?? Is she supposed to be looking at her hand????? Have her look at the blonde guy like “hell no you aren’t gonna take my cookies” . Great now you don’t have two people in the top portion of the pic with their eyebrows raised and their mouths in an “O”.

Now onto the second half. You’re doing great lesbians. Have them look into eachothers eyes tho. Hell, have them kiss if you’re brave. Your game already has pride shit and #genderpatch options and whatever justdoit.gif. Have camera guy at the bottom talking on the phone while looking really annoyed and have the girl to his right tapping him on the shoulder like she has something important to say but she doesn’t wanna interrupt him. Now you don’t have two people in opposite corners of the cover doing that boring sideways glance smirk thing and everyones interacting in a way that tells a story.
