"Noiz. We don’t need those noodles, get the actual udon ones. The white ones." Aoba answered as he opened the fridge, grabbing out a packet of uncooked chicken and some vegetables. "We’re gonna eat proper udon tonight, I need a break from pizza and pasta." It had gotten worse since the pizza place did pasta dishes now too; Noiz’s excitement over it and the fact he was still so clueless was rather adorable.
They weren’t the right ones, after all. They all looked the same. What was the difference? Were they not ‘proper’ udon? His bafflement cast aside, Noiz padded over to Aoba’s side for an impromptu lesson in cooking. He withdrew two sharp knives from the drawer and handed one to his instructor—handle first, of course—and dragged the assortment of vegetables over to his side of the chopping board. “How much of this stuff do we need?”
Aoba took the packet of Udon and used one of the knives that Noiz gave him to score along the side of the packet so he could open it, pulling the wedge of noodles out so he could tug them out of the cube they'd formed and set them down in a bowl. "Here." He picked up a ginger root and handed it to Noiz along with the peeler. "Can you peel that for me? Then cut it up in thin slices, okay?" He needed to get the stock made and chicken cooking.
"Show me before you cut it." He aid after a pause, going over to the fridge to grab a couple more vegetables out so he could get started on dicing the chicken up while he let Noiz deal with them. "I don't wanna choke on ginger bricks." It had happened before.
