Plateau | Canary Wharf

I have never really been one to celebrate Valentine’s day. Just seemed like a day for men to fall for retail and social gimics ultimately leading to cash loss. 

However this year RB decided to take it upon herself to organize a day out for the two of us which is always nice.

We found it a massive struggle to actually find somewhere to eat though. Everywhere was packed with over an hour waiting times. You really had to book your Valentines reservation at these restaurants or you might as well as forgot about it.

Searching high and low for somewhere to eat helped us stumble across this restaurant called Plateau in Canary Wharf. The restaurant had a really nice atmosphere to it and was really welcoming. With dim lights and a live band it provided a nice romantic setting.

I opted for the 330g sirloin steak with the home made chips (all 7 of them) with a champagne cocktail. The steak was very soft, juicy and filling which made me grateful at the end of the day that the meal didn’t come with a plate full of chips! My meal costed £42.49 (total bill £75) which did spark contoversy when I told my work colleagues.

Would I go there again? Probably not, only because the menu was quite limited in what it was offering however I did enjoy my meal and evening there.

Quick Bicester Trip

My mom has been bugging me for a winter coat for the longest time. That her coat isn’t adequate enough blah blah blah.

As a result I thought let me see if i can take her to Bicester Village and find a good deal. Mom had never been to Bicester either so it made sense to kill two birds with one stone.

Because of the nature of Bicester Village I always find it dissapointing after a trip. Being an outlet shopping area there is not anything there in trend, for the season etc. It’s literally about finding a deal on something you wanted some months ago.

I managed to pick up two items from Ralph Lauren and some work shoes from Clarks. After a long 2 hours and a continual lack of decision making, mom found her dream coat. Of course it had to be Armani and it had to be £245 but to be honest it was a stunner, so i let her have it.

Postman Lifestyle

After Swirly and I dropped the Doccia Dips online the response was beyond manageable. It took us days to get the weekend orders out and 4 post office visits to post everything.

Bird | Shoreditch

After an afternoon out window shopping in Camden and then Shoreditch me and RB headed for a joint I had previously been with some work mates. The first time I had been to Bird, a week after I could not stop going on about it to everyone but this second time I was not as impressed.

The restaurant is really casual and specialises in fried chicken. This visit I took time to really analyse the preparation of my order. The fried exterior of the chicken becomes quite hard once the chicken has cooled down, creating a hard and crunchy layer before your teeth sinks into the chicken. I am not so sure that those that like saucy food will like it either as the chicken and wings are quite dry despite the restaurant offering some pretty exotic sauces and dips.

The triple cooked chips also became a talking point between RB and myself. They become quite unpleasent to eat after a while as they become very hard and looking around other tables they don’t seem to get finished.

Price wise the meal is decent and if I return I think I will give one of their burgers a try and leave the chicken alone.

AO's Graduation Celebration

Another toast to success and friendship!

My good friend AO just got his Masters and so it was time to celebrate another achievement. His friends and family came out and we went to Southwark Rooms and had a really good night.

No matter the size of the achievement, an achievement should always be celebrated.
