For my lovely anon
When we were rehearsing it, I said I would like to imitate Tallulah Bankhead in this scene. Iāve seen Tallulah many times at big parties and she picks up a cigarette and five lights come in, men who light her cigarette. And we imitated that and it came off very well.
Joan Crawford on the cigarette lighting scene in Humoresque (1946)
Burt Lancaster and Bill Fiore in The Swimmer (dir. Frank Perry, 1968), based on the story by John Cheever.

And Nick Cravat of Cravat & Lang? :)
Barbara Stanwyck, Burt Lancaster, Sorry, Wrong Number 1948 - Director: Anatole Litvak
āWe had been a team for four nights, and we were sleeping in the same bed so we could save nine bucks. I dream out loud and he says to me,Ā āYouāre dreaming out loud again! Let me know when youāre finished so I can go back to sleep (laughs).ā Then I say āPaul understand what I am going to tell you right now. In about six months. weāre going to have such money, weāre not going to be able to count it. He said,Ā āFrom your lips, my friend.ā Just days after we teamed up, I make this prediction because I believed it.ā
- Jerry Lewis
Ava Gardner on Whatās My Line?
This What's My Line episode was my first time watching Ava Gardner. I totally understand the hype now - she's hypnotic!
Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis rehearsing with Burt Lancaster for an episode of The Colgate Comedy Hour, 1953.
Happy Birthday Actor and Acrobat Burt Lancaster!
Burt, who would have turned 98 today,Ā was a circus performer before his Hollywood career. Here in 1950, he balances atop a pole held by Nick Cravat, and talks casually with the crowd and press before sliding down.

Favourite classic movie kisses: The More The MerrierĀ (1943)
Joel McCrea and Jean Arthur
Dir. George Stevens
POSSIBLY THE HOTTEST CLASSIC MOVIE KISS ā¦EVER?
Connie (Jean) and Joe (Joel) are forced (uh oh!) to occupy the same cramped apartment in Washington DC. Itās cool though, sheās not interested in him(!) sheās just ādoing her bitā to be patriotic during the housing shortage. She fully retains her virtue and all that while regularly enjoying the sight of Joel McCrea in a state of undress ā everybody wins! Thereās also some old guy living with them, but heās kind of a dick and reads her diary so weāll just gloss over that.Ā
And now, finally, Connie and Joe are alone together ā theyāve been out dining and dancing and he is walking her home. Naturally, itās at this point that she tries to distract herself from Joeās allure (and the ever-thickening haze of punch-drunk love) by babbling about her bewigged fiancĆ©, Mr Pendergast. A total turn off, right? NOPE. Not to Joel āHandsyā McCrea it isnāt. Seriously, just watch the filmā¦
