“Mariah! Mariah!”
“Over here Mariah.”
“Please look this way”
“Oh my god it’s Mariaaaaah!!”
Deafening screams surrounding the brunette starlet the moment she’d stepped out and on to the carpet. Her heart beat in time with the flashes of light. A smile here. A flip of her hair there, Mariah Ava Lockwood had mastered this dance long ago. Chocolate brown orbs sparkling with delight as photographers called her name. Desperate to capture a snap shot of the delightful southern actress, who was presenting at tonight’s award show.
Having finished up her obligatory interviews, the brunette walked off the red carpet and towards two of her oldest friends waiting by the doors. Her camera smile quickly turning into a double chin crazy one. “Don’t say it, I know I look so pwetty.”
It was odd for Lexa being back in LA now. She’d been itching for the last six months to get back here and away from Charleston but now that she was back in front of all the bright flashing lights she wanted nothing more then to be back home. Glancing down at her phone she checked to see if she had a text from Asher. It was hard to say if she was home sick or just suffering the after effects of morning sickness.
Brushing a strand of blonde hair from her face, she waited in the wings with Melanie as Ava finished walking the carpet. She couldn’t help but laugh as she saw the face and she shook her head. “God your so damn charming.” Lexa teased her before wrapping her in a hug. “I hope you took all your pictures like that.” She teased as she pulled away.
Things like these were well out of Melanie’s comfort zone. Unlike her friends, Melanie didn’t get the fancy life. No big house, no designer clothing or expensive cars. Instead, she lived the simple life. Out of all her friends, Melanie was the one who stood to the back when it came to a life like that. Not that she minded, but it was certainly a culture shock the moment she stepped outside of the limo and realized just how close she was standing to a real life red carpet.
It was different, however, standing right beside Lexa, on the outside of the line, Melanie couldn’t help but smile. “You know, I’ve never met someone more humble than you.” She added teasingly, with a small laugh as she watched the female approach them. “Very graceful double chin thing though. It really adds to the flower print. You know, add’s some pop to the whole thing.”
