On a windy day in April 1944, a Dakota 576 overshot the Port Hardy runway. It circled around again to make a second attempt but ran out of fuel. The plane crashed, killing the pilot and navigator. We landed at Mykonos airport early in the morning after an early flight from Naples. The bus schedule showed that it would be almost an hour before the next bus came. We went to line up with many of the other passengers from our plane at the taxi stand. The taxis came at a steady pace for a while and then trickled to a slow. Worried about waiting for taxis people began to share.

Due to our tour to Mount Vesuvius running late, we arrived in Naples without much time to explore. We got to the train station and looked into taking the Hop-On Hop-Off bus. Mount Vesuvius
After visiting the Pompeii Archaeological Site, mom and I made plans to travel to Mount Vesuvius the next day. We checked in at a tourist shop next to our hotel. The company had openings in the 10 a.m. tour. We booked in with them and went to wander around and find dinner and the train station.
