I am reading Sunrise on the reaping. And, I totally get it now why this book's theme is the propaganda and false narrative pushed by the media to manipulate the masses.
We collectively thought we knew what happened in Haymitch's game. Kateniss tells us what she watched in the recap video prepared by the capital. But, it's not even close to what really happened. The story we knew for years wasn't the truth. And, if this isn't the best example to prove how the media can manipulate the narrative. I don't know what it is.
A flint striker token for the boy who tried and seemingly failed to ignite the rebellion but would go on to mentor and ensure the girl on fire succeeded where he failed
Suzanne really went for the emotional damage of parallels with Katniss giving Haymitch the geese. Because she knows his pain of losing the one you love, she gave him his own equivalent of her pearl that gave her comfort when she thought Peeta was gone.
president snow is so funny when bird are mentioned… the word dove and he like “good thing you are going to die” like stop tweaking out
the way haymitch must have seen it as all his ghosts coming back to haunt him at once when katniss walked onto the train with the face of burdock and asterid, the pin of maysilee, the voice of lenore dove, and a background so devastatingly similar to his own. of course sweetheart slipped out. and of course he did everything he could to keep her alive
Going forward this will NOT be a spoiler free account! I intend to repost SOTR content, so beware! <3
Sunrise on the Reaping is officially released!
This is the fifth hunger games book, focusing on Haymitch’s journey in the 2nd Quarter Quell.
Have you picked up a copy? Have you finished it? Let me know your thoughts!
Katniss: what a FUCKING manipulatior. he thinks he can use his BEAUTIFUL EYES and KIND PERSONALITY and SKILLS and FEMININE EYELASHES to woo people. But IM NOT FALLING FOR IT! he's so despicable. I'm not going to hold back in the games.
Peeta: if she dies I'm literally killing myself
The first section of this book is all winter and fake smiles and misery
"I'm sure they didn't notice anything but you. You should wear flames more often," he says. "They suit you." And then he gives me a smile that seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me.
If that isn’t a crush, idk what is
I would like to apologise in advance for the person I will become when I get my hands on a copy of Sunrise on the Reaping
I’m about to be the most insufferable version of myself
