Happy Birthday To Me!!!
Today, my baby sister became a proud HBCU graduate—earning her Master of Public Administration from the illustrious Clark Atlanta University!
As I sat in the stands, I watched 727 Black and African American students walk across the stage to receive their Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees. The emotions were overwhelming—pride, joy, and deep hope.
As an equity-centered leader in Long Beach Unified, I couldn’t help but see the faces of my Black students in each graduate. I thought of the promise, the brilliance, and the future that lies ahead for them. I cannot wait until they too get the opportunity to experience this kind of excellence.
Higher education matters deeply—especially for Black students. Not just for economic mobility, but for identity, legacy, and liberation.
Clark Atlanta University, the alma mater of James Weldon Johnson—author of Lift Every Voice and Sing—reminds us that Black excellence is deeply rooted in history and purpose. His legacy lives on through the voices, degrees, and dreams of every graduate who walked today.
Congratulations, Sis—and to all of CAU’s Class of 2025. You are the embodiment of greatness.

Alright…I’m the 8th grade administrator and planning our 8th grade events. To raise money, we are doing a fundraiser. If I raise $600, I will get in a Dunk Tank. For every $100 dollars students raise and/or I get over $600, students get that many balls to throw to dunk me. Example $300 = 3 balls. We have 350 students participating. 😩😩😩😂😂😂😂 And they are all excited to Dunk me.
Make their dreams come true!
IF YOU CANNOT DONATE, PLEASE SHARE! THANK YOU!🙏🏾
Only 1 1/2 hours left! Have you purchased some yet? If you’re not a popcorn eater, there’s a donate option. We are 1/2 way there!
Get me dunked! 😂😩🤦🏾♀️

It still trips me out that I am a Vice Principal and a University Professor. I still don’t feel like an adult at 44.😂😂
Last year, we had an end of the year 8th grade dance…kind of like a prom and the theme was “Ties & Tiaras”.
This year I would like to do a sneaker ball where they get dressed up, but wear really cool sneakers with their suits and dresses.
Please vote on a name for the event. Which name is the best?
Laced in Luxury
Formal Fits & Fresh Kicks
Sneaker Royale
The Sneaker Ball
Did you guess correctly?
What am I and which type?
Take 48 of me trying to record an earthquake drill video for students and staff to participate in the Great California Shake Out.
No…you’re crying! 😩😭

Ok you guys know I'm always trying to do something for our Black babies to give them a sense of pride, belonging, and identity. This year, on top of all the other things, I am starting a Black Student Union on campus for my middle schoolers. It will be grounded in the Kwanza Principles. Each month they will learn a different principle and do a community project amongst several other things. I currently need to raise $1372, but DonorsChoose is doing a DOUBLE your money today so I only need $674.
Support and help if you can. Every little bit counts and if you can share, that helps as well. Thank you so much in advance.
Only need $387! I’m almost there. They’re still matching. ❤️ Thank you for all those that have supported thus far.
Just in case you wanted to donate today…I’m still here!🫣

Ok…you guys know I clearly like to over work myself. In addition to being an Assistant Principal and Professor this year, I am starting a Black Student Union with my middle schoolers.
For those who may not be familiar, a Black Student Union (BSU) at the middle school level is a student-led organization that focuses on creating a supportive community for Black students and their allies. The purpose of our BSU is to promote cultural awareness, provide a space for students to explore their identity, and foster leadership and educational opportunities that reflect the rich diversity of our school community. This group will also engage in meaningful discussions, events, and activities that highlight the importance of Black history, culture, and contributions to society.
I planned out monthly activities you can view below. Now I need supplies. Please DONATE if you can, if not, please share with others! Click the Donor’s Choose link. Thank you always! ❤️

At this big age, I still get extremely excited when I reach the goals I set for myself in my youth. I get to check off another goal this fall, being a professor at my alma mater. It's crazy to see my name in the catalog as a professor students will choose to take my course.
Self Reflection:
Since becoming an administrator, I really need to work on my attitude at home. All day I am hearing complaints, solving problems, making decisions, talking to parents, talking to students, talking to staff, talking to people in the neighborhood around the school about shit students do while walking home, talking in meetings, making decisions in meetings, visiting and observing classrooms and on and on and on.
Bout time I get home, I am on sensory overload. I don’t want to talk about shit, I don’t want to hear shit, don’t ask me shit, and I don’t want to make decisions.
I just want to sit in silence, drink wine, take a shower, and go to bed.
I see why administrators end up divorce. 😩😬
