You're an average human teenager.

A few years ago, your mother married a powerful Fae as part of a deal to heal your grandma's prion disease.

Now you have a Fae step-father and two older Fae step-brothers.

Of course there's downsides:

You and your mum constantly have to stop them from casting horrific curses on anyone, who looks at you funny; you have to handle any iron items your new dad and brothers can't touch ... and they don't seem to want to tell you what their real names are.

Overall, they're cool though:

you can have almost anything you want, your brothers hilariously turned your bullies into trees the other day and your step-father is trying to convince your mother to let you have a supernatural pet.

And if they ever get on your nerves ... well, your bedroom door has an iron handle.

So, you know how my old router lasted for ten years, before it kicked the bucket?

Well, I sincerely hope, that my laptops (or at least one of them) last, until either a better version of Windows than Windows 11 comes along (still on Windows 10, no intention of changing that), or I have enough savings for a new laptop.

The ones I have are not quite 9yo and over 6yo old respectively and doing mostly fine. At this point they have sentimental value, lol.

Everything hurts

I've been having joint pains for a while now. During Monday it was okay, so I could go to therapy, but in the late evening it got worse again. It's now Tuesday morning and I've been in terrible pain all night and morning. It hurts to move my elbows and knees. Sitting up, sitting down, standing and walking is fucking torture. I never thought a walk to the toilet could be so painful and I had stomach complaints last night, so I couldn't sleep.

Unfortunately, I'll have to wait for the pain to ebb away, before I can go see a doctor about it. So the only thing I can do now is suck it up.

Feeling better, though I still struggle to move my left arm. My doctor's practise is closed on Wednesdays, so I'll have to wait till tomorrow morning to go to the doctor and talk to her about it.

My router and the lamp in my living room are broken. Now the only light I have in here is a red light lamp that's supposed to be for colds. I have no WiFi, so I'm using up my remaining phone credit (I use a prepaid card). Gotta use it wisely, but I just had to vent.

So, I've spent the holidays alone ...

Normally I spend Christmas and New Year visiting my mother, who lives in another town. I only see her a few times a year, because I can't afford to travel more than twice a year, so this is a special occasion, not just because it's Christmas. We just have quiet time, visit grandma and I spend New Year's Eve there, because it's much quieter than Berlin.

But this year she's visiting her new boyfriend in West Germany, so I stayed home.

I know I don't sound like the 30yo I am, but it makes me feel a little bitter, that my mother, who I only see a few times a year, travelled all across the country for her new flame, rather than spend Christmas with her family.

A new story idea

A movie about our immune system, but it's like a mixture between Lord of the Rings and an alien invasion flick.

And it's not evident the movie is about our immune system, right until the end.

Another story idea ...

An arsehole shapeshifter volunteers to babysit "troublesome" children.

The overwhelmed parents gladly take the offer, not knowing just who they're entrusting their children to.

As soon as the parents leave, the shapeshifter proceeds to scare the everlasting soul out of them by turning into various eldritch abominations and telling them absolutely horrible things, before teaching them actual lessons (which it does, just not in a way kids should be taught).

It doesn't harm the kids physically and they return to their parents much more obedient and docile.

But they're traumatised. No one believes them, when they say that their nanny/babysitter is a shapeshifting monster. Their parents think they're just being dramatic.

The shapeshifter knows this and loves rubbing it into their faces.
