i hope youre all lying and hyping your cv/resumeās up
i have never gotten an interview and not been offered a job position after it
I mean lets be honest if everyone else is gassing theirs up like no tomorrow and youāre being as honest as you can who th are the recruitment team going to be more interested in
Thereās people working in my banks head office with me WITH MUCH MORE EXPERIENCE than me BUT ARE GETTING PAID LESS
weāre doing the exact same job role
the point Iām trying to make here is if youāve handled finances for a company youāre now what i would call a treasurer my g, if youāve done admin work you are now a secretary (or as Iāve put Management secretary)
you help some kid with his homework? youāre a private tutor.
keep your bullets points for the job role as concise and important sounding as possible AND ALWAYS EMPHASIS THAT YOURE A TEAM PLAYER IF YOURE GOING TO WORK IN A TEAM.
go into that interview room and get your story straight the night before and remember that interviews are two way conversatons yes they might be grilling you but at the end of it make sure to grill them BACK. do you have any hesitations about my qualifications? my suitability for the job? any feedback on my cv? how long have you been working at this company? do you like it here? whats the work environment like?
I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS GET THE SAME FEEDBACK WHEN THEY GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH ME
āive never been asked those questions beforeā / āyou were one of the strongest candidatesā
throughout the interview emphasise that youre about progression, that you want more responsibilities than you did at your previous job, tell them the hours here are more suitable for me than my last ones were, AND WHEN IT COMES TO SALARY NEGOTIATION its all about continuity. tell them again that it boils down to progression. make up a reasonable figure for how much you were paid in your last role (do your research for how much the industry youre applying to or the role youre applying for pays, base it on that) tell them you expect more than you were previously paid. do not give them a figure. progression is your primary focus, tell them if youre progressing youre happy. leave it at that.
LIE THROUGH YOUR TEETH AND GET THAT MONEY
I had an interview yesterday, at the place Iāve been temping, where I busted out the āis there anything about my skills or background that makes you concerned about my fit for this jobā question for the first time.
Neither of my supervisors had never gotten it before either. They had to think for a while, and then it turned into them telling me how great I am and what they love about me.
This stuff is real. I would also say: none of it is lying. This is taking experience that you normally downplay and write off, and putting it in accurate words theyāll understand.
Itās hacking the capitalist system. Why ISNāT helping a kid with homework ātutoringā, when the only thing missing is a paycheck?
Itās especially important for anyone who isnāt a cis white man, because many of us are so thoroughly trained to feel like we are not good enough.
Privilege tells people they can fake it, and that theyāre good enough just as people and can learn the skills on the job. Abuse and oppression tell people they arenāt good enough as people and that even their high skills are probably below average, and that unless they had the specific job title or were using certain skills officially, nobody will think it counts.
The goal is to at least fake the confidence of a privileged person, to give the employer a chance at seeing the skills that youāve been trained to undervalue.
I would also say to answer any query ofĀ āHave you done [X small task] before?ā withĀ āI have, but itās been a while.ā Or,Ā āI have, but it was a slightly different program.ā
100% THEY WILL GLADLY WALK YOU THROUGH EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW, and I stressĀ āgladlyā because claiming prior knowledge boosts their confidence in your abilities and any slips you make are already covered by your caveat.Ā
blackstoic may have deactivated their account but this advice is fucking gold and all yāall looking for jobs or who think you might one day need to look for a new job PRINT THIS SHIT OUT AND STAPLE IT TO THE WALL.Ā
I want to take a quick second and mention the trans sex workers in Thailand. Thailand is notorious for sex tourism (where foreigners come in and pay for copious amounts of sex and entertainment that fetishizes Asians). A quick google search of Thailand prostitution will provide you with various sites that tell you how and where to find prostitutes and how to differentiate between female prostitutes orĀ āladyboysā. Because of the recent explosion in the sex trade, more and more people are voluntarily becoming prostitutes but there is still an incredibly high amount of forced sex slaves and one particular group is the kathoeys or the ladyboys; kathoeys are essentially transgender (male to female) sex workers. There are kathoeys that were sold by their family to pimps and forced to undergo gender transition surgery, often shortening their lives to about 20-30 years due to medical complications, mental health issues, substance abuse, and HIV/STD transmission. Thailandās political/social understanding and tolerance of transgender issues have been severely misconstrued because of the intertwining of sex tourism. I might also add that itās usually white men that perpetrate a lot of the transmisogynist and fetishy behavior. I have seen people glamorize kathoeys/ladyboys for their looks and I am disgusted that they intentionally ignore the struggles of Asian, transgender sex workers, exploited by a harmful, destructive tourist industry.

If that photo doesnāt terrify you then you donāt understand whatās going on
This photo is more threatening than the ones where they were being pulled out of their chairs and zip tied
[Tweet from ADAPT reads, āhe had them sent to jail without their wheelchairs clearly senator portman doesnāt care!ā
Image is a police officer pulling an empty motorized wheelchair (mobility scooter?) down the street. Another officer and empty chair are in the background.]
Imagine if theyād kept an able-bodied prisoner in a jail cell but kept their legs (and possibly their hands) bound, so they couldnāt stand up, move around in the jail cell, get out of bed or off the floor.
That would be considered inhumane, and torture, right? If that news got out, humanitarian organizations like Amnesty International would be up in arms. You know they would.
Thatās what it means when you take away a personās wheelchair. Thatās why itās terrifying. But because itās happening to disabled people, no one except the victims is noticing.
Also note: Power mobility aids like those in the photo can cost as much as a brand-new automobile. And if they get damaged because the authorities donāt know what the hell theyāre doing (or they do know, and are motivated by spite or malice), then the person will be just as helpless after they get out of jail.
And Medicare will not replace a damaged or broken wheelchair unless itās at least five years old.
Now imagine being helpless in a jail cell, unable to move, and havingĀ that worry in the back of your mind.
And no one except the victims is noticing.
Is there a good soul that would explain to me the American health care system?
It might help if you understand that the USA has no overall healthcare system in the sense of āsystem designed to care for peopleās health.āĀ What we have instead is a system designed to maximize profits on health-related products and services.Ā
Instead of sending tax money to the government to dispense to groups that actually care for health, we interpose private insurance companies that exist for the sole purpose of making profits. Thus they charge the highest possible prices, cover as few illnesses as possible, spend as little of their incoming payments for actual health care as possible, try to avoid insuring people who already need actual health care, and try to drop insured people who suddenly begin to need health care.
The givers of health care also maximize profits by charging the highest possible prices and trying to avoid giving any care to those who cannot pay their high prices. This causes Americans to have to pay much, much higher prices for a particular drug or procedure than most people in the rest of the world getting that drug or procedure. Few people in other countries realize how much higher prices are here. (See, for example,Ā āHow Much Do Women Around the World Pay to Give Birth?ā)
The result is that a substantial portion of the population cannot afford insurance and cannot afford to pay directly for their health care. To avoid having millions of people dying all over the country, the government provides tax-supported health care for as few people as it can get away with without provoking civil war: Medicare for older people, Medicaid for the poorest younger people.Ā
Medicare covers only a portion of health care costs, so people over 65 have to either pay a for-profit insurance company for a supplemental policy, cover the extra costs directly, or do without some care they actually need. Medicaid covers all costs, but there is a constant movement to set up roadblocks to getting Medicaid coverage; for example, trying to cap the number of people who can get it - regardless of need - and trying to limit it to the very poorest people, even though somewhat less poor people also cannot afford to buy insurance or pay directly. Why does the public tolerate these efforts to limit Medicaid? Because even though the great majority of Medicaid patients are either children or adults too ill to work, constant propaganda paints them all as lazy good-for-nothings who dishonestly drain healthcare funds from those desperately trying to pay for their own insurance and direct healthcare costs.Ā
The effort to move us to a system that genuinely focuses on providing needed care has been, and is, extremely difficult. And every time we make some progress toward it (as with the Affordable Care Act known as Obamacare), there is a powerful, organized movement to roll that back. Why? Because peopleās need for healthcare is a life and death matter, and people will sacrifice spending on almost everything else in a desperate effort to buy it. This means that healthcare is an extremely high-profit industry, and those who profit will not easily give ground, no matter how many people suffer or die from treatable conditions.Ā
Itās also important that insurance provided by your employer is heavily subsidized by the government and the premiums are about half. Yet most Americans donāt know of this huge subsidy which health care opponents never seem to complain about. This gives employers enormous power over employees and their families and creates a two tier system which leaves the self employed, unemployed, part timers (35 hours per week), small business employees, and many others priced out of health insurance.
Yes you heard that right. People with good well paying jobs get a health insurance subsidy that people who are struggling do not get. This has been built into the corporate tax system for many decades and is not being threatened.
Yes indeed, enjoytheelephant, there is so much more to the problems with our healthcare system than I included in my original bare-bones explanation. Hereās another little tidbit people in other countries might be interested in: some Republican-proposed laws being considered right now to replace the ACA (Obamacare) allow an individual State to decide insurance companies can sell plans that just refuse to pay for some items like maternity care, mental health care, and substance abuse care. The proposed laws add a little footnote that if the State a Congress person is from does choose to allow such exclusions from healthcare coverage, the exclusions will NOT apply to the Congress person and family (theyāll continue to get full coverage).
May I ask, with respect, another questionĀ - if you are are extremely poor/disadvantaged and have no coverage, are you able to access any kind of medical care? For example, if a person with no coverage is hit by a car, incurs serious injuries from which theyād recover only if they have intensive treatment - what happens to them? Do ambulances just not attend? Are they just put to one side until they die? Are there any public hospitals?
glenmoresparks, thatās a perfectly reasonable question. First note that very poor people are more likely to have Medicaid coverage. Moderately poor people are more likely to have no coverage and no money to pay directly. The answer to your question is that each hospital emergency room is required by law to attend to and stabilize (that doesnāt mean cure) all the people who go there.
Notice two things here:Ā
1) Cost of treatment: The person who canāt pay - even if itās somebody with only, say, Ā an easily treatable ear infection - is being treated in a hospital (which costs lots of money to build and operate) instead of in a doctorās office (which costs much less to build and operate), in one of the most expensive areas of that hospital, by physicans trained in or being trained in very complicated care for seriously damaged people instead of by a general practitioner. This means even the smallest illness or injury produces very high costs.
Ā 2) Who pays the cost: Though the State (not the Federal government) may occasionally appropriate some money to help out, the hospital itself generally must bear the cost for these non-paying patients.Ā There are two major results of this:Ā
While the hospital has a powerful financial incentive to provide extra tests (each of which is charged for) to paying patients, most hospitals provide as little care as practically and morally possible to those who canāt pay. The non-paying patient will get such attention as bleeding stitched up and a broken leg splinted but very possibly not such things as surgery to correct internal damage that isnāt immediately a risk to life. And yes, people die because they canāt afford heart surgery or a lung transplant, etc.
Ā The hospitals try to balance their budgets by increasing charges for people who do have insurance and especially for people who try to make direct payment. Some smaller hospitals that get a lot of non-paying patients, like rural hospitals in poorer areas, simply canāt afford to go on bearing the cost and may eventually close down. Ā Even the big, non-profit, teaching city hospital near me is now having financial problems for this reason.
Also, the patients who required extensive care to stabilize their condition - or their families if the patients later die - are in some cases hounded for years by attempts to collect money spent by the ambulance service, testing centers, and certain aspects of their hospital care.
Itās important to understand that the ACA (Obamacare) added a healthcare tax on high income people in order to help cover some of these many costs in our system that were not being met. The centerpiece of every Republican attempt to revise the ACA is the elimination of those taxes. Those Republican bills slash Medicaid funding and reduce other ACA attempts to help poorer people in order to pay for huge tax cuts to the wealthy - weāre talking tax cuts that can amount to hundreds of thousands of extra dollars in the pockets of those who already have millions a year to spend.
Reblogging again because this is an incredible insight into American health care system. Thank you for the answers!!

Things Iām sick of
Asians being ignored in racial discussions or even worse, lumped in with whites as if we were essentially the same
The utter lack of education on Asian directed hostility that has been a continued issue in the united states ever since we first started coming here.
People treating all race issues as just Black vs White
The assumption that since Asians have the Ā stereotypes of being smart, docile, and nonthreatening, that we lack a struggle other minorities have
The hypersexualization of Asian women and the complete desexualization of Asian men
How almost all asian representation in media is accompanied with an accent, and rarely breaks from the stereotypesĀ
⢠How people think āAsianā means āEast Asianā ⢠The serious lack of diverse Asian representation in mainstream media ⢠In addition to that, casting someone of a certain Asian ethnicity in a role meant for another (as if all Asians are the same) ⢠āAre you sure youāre Asian? But you speak English so well!ā ⢠āArenāt all Asians supposed to be pale/petite/etc?ā
Also, the fetishization of Asian mlm and the fact that the hypersexualization of Asian women often comes hand in hand with infantilization, which is gross on so many levels
that cash me outside girl getting arrested and kylie and kendall jenner getting dragged across multiple social media platforms is a sign that capitalizing off of black culture/success as a non-black person will come back to bite u in the ass

A recap
Sometime before Beyonce was 21, likely around 18, Jay-Z sets his sights on her. The youngest he could have possibly been was 30.
The day she turned 21, he asked her to āgo steadyā by saying āDonāt embarrass meā. He was cheating the whole time. She had just turned 21 so he would be 33 in 3 months. This is in 2002. That same year Destinyās Child announced a hiatus. They would release their final album in 2004.
Jay repeatedly boasts about the baddest chick in the game wearing his chain. Heās still cheating left and right.
Destinyās Child has their last performance in 2006.
āI am alone at a crossroads. Iām not at home in my own home and Iāve tried and tried to say whatās on my mind.ā - 2007
Bey married Jay in 2008. Heās still cheating.
She has a few miscarriages. Finds out her dadās a sack of shit with all types of outside children. Is CONSTANTLY attacked by white feminists. Is told she isnāt open enough and consistently critiqued for ānot being realā as she sings about this man, who has been grooming her to deal with his shit since she was 18 and he was 30, treating her terribly and constantly breaking her heart. Home is not the refuge is should be, not at all. Her husband is still cheating and, by his own admission, is not emotionally supportive in the slightest.
The Grammys keep finding reasons to rob her and taint the one thing still kinda working the way she needs. Her husband is still cheating. Heās having threesomes and shit. Still bragging about the hottest chick in the game wearing his chain though. Because, apparently, thatās all she was to him. A trophy.
2011- sheās still trying desperately to get him to be better. Sheās still thinking sheās not doing something right (thatās what āgetting in earlyā does for these men). This is when we get that epic love letter to Jay-Z in the album ā4ā.
Sheās finally able to carry a child to term, but not without people constantly accusing her of lying about being pregnant and saying the baby isnāt hers.
Blueās arrival and Beyonceās reflection of the hell sheās been dealing with get her to finally consider leaving for real and for good. Sheās about to walk away.
With Blueās arrival, Jay finally thinks he should treat his wife better. Itās 2012. Heās been treating her like absolute shit, after grooming her to take the emotional abuse, for 11 years.
2013 - Beyonce starts telling her story in the eponymous album.
2015, once Blue is old enough to notice things start forming her understanding of relationships, LEMONADE. Trash men get angry at her āairing their dirty laundryā. Delusional stans of the relationship swear itās not about them but her parents. Stans refusing to believe this man is who he is is part of her hell.
2017 - Jay-Z FINALLY admits to how trash he was, chalks it up to her maturing faster than him. Againā¦she was 18 when this started. He was 30.
This is a very heartbreaking story no one deserves to go through.Ā
Resham Khan and her cousin are victims of an acid attack, a vicious crime that is rapidly growing in the UK.Ā Not only are they victims of acid attacks, but this was also a hate crime and a blatant act of Islamophobia. The people of the UK fear that white supremacists will make acid their primary way of attacking minorities. Unfortunately, anyone in the UK is allowed to buy acid without a licenseā¦.even minors. A petition was implemented to call for the attention of the Home Office (UKās government) in order to put an immediate stop to reckless purchases of deadly acids.Ā
Resham and her cousinās lives are gonna change foreverā¦. they were just trying to celebrate a birthday when some disgusting racist sabotaged their night and life. Hopefully by signing the petition, the UK government will realize this is a devastating issue that needs to be fixed immediately.Ā
Youāre welcome
This is the most useful thing Iāve ever reblogged.
i used to think when people said my cousin twice removed that their cousin mustāve did some fucked up shit to get kicked out of the family twice
