Leave what does not belong to you behind
Amongst those stones, beside that stream
Place it down and bid goodbyes

바람, 2017
Swept off my feet,
there was silence in the howling.
I recall the days it would whisper to me;
that gentle voice that beckons me to raise my head.
As my hair resisted against the wind,
I watched the sun bury into the mountains.
The wind was right,
those bright lights can’t be shinning all night.
Roots, 2017
I went on a short trip with my parents to Melaka hoping to find out more about the Peranakan culture. I felt embarrassed that as a Peranakan myself, I knew nothing much about our origins, culture nor traditions. Although it wasn’t exactly my fault that my family has more or less abandoned our roots.
I wonder if it is too late to recover what has been lost through the generations.
Hidden, 2016
There’s this beauty hidden somewhere.
It may be close within, it may be far away.
Don’t stop searching for it,
because being hidden means it exist.
And its existence is just waiting to be found.
M, 2016
I tried but I just can't seem to find a story for this.
I am sorry.
The pretty flowers lasted for the season and wilted before good byes.
As the petals fell, they were stepped on nonchalantly.
It wasn’t my fault. They were too fragile, they should have grown to be sturdier.
The last blossom held on but it too doesn’t stand a chance against the harsh laughter of the cold wind. The flower fell as the wind took the higher ground. It hurts, but I’ll take it. A new season will arrive and you will just be a bad memory.
All aboard, 2014
There’s always this feeling of satisfaction when I see a train coming in from a distance. Sweeping past me, messing my hair, and gradually stopping at the station with the doors aligned to the markers on the platform.
As I process it all in my head, I step in with a poker face and heads off to my destination. No one would know that I had enjoyed the moment, no one would ask about it too.
I’ll continue taking in the joy of riding a train and wonder how long my silent relationship with it will last.
In the moment, 2016
I love going for long walks.
In my own pace, I take in the solitude and watch the people around me.
At Okinawa, I had the sea, the greens and smiles all around. It was great and I felt so happy.
I wish it hadn’t ended so soon, I was having so much fun. Maybe I’ll come back when reality is less harsh on me.
Peace, 2016
Seeking solace in this unpredictable life I feel the freedom in the breeze The impulse of the ocean waves
Life’s not too bad. Yet.
In business, 2016
Straying away from the main lively area in Makishi market, I ended up walking down some quiet alleys. Although seemingly isolated, they were still vibrant and lovely in their own ways.
Meow, 2016
The kitty was amused by my camera wrist strap and decided the best way to grab it is by standing on me. I couldn't take a good photo so I guess I’ll settle for this...she is just so cute!
Women Only, 2015
I doubt this would ever happen in Singapore but stepping into an all-female cabin was a pretty calming experience after all the hustle bustle at Namba.
Looking forward to my next trip. :)
Teachable moments, 2015
The season of rain has brought about some mushroom clusters in the neighbourhood. A few species have been spotted in different areas and the children were absolutely fascinated by them. There’s always something new to discover when you bring your class outdoor.
Lights, 2015
Looking at pretty Christmas lights at Gardens by the Bay.
Ayam buah keluak, 2015
It’s regrettable that the Peranakan culture and tradition in my family has pretty much disappeared down the generations. Although not a Peranakan, my mom tried her best to learn as many recipes from my grandma (her mother-in-law) as she could.
I am glad that one of the dishes she managed to hold on to is the Ayam buah keluak, which is also my favourite. Soon it’ll be my turn to take over this recipe but I feel that I may not be able to make as good a rempah (spice paste) as my mom and my grandma.
Pikapika, 2015
Cause I am certain Pikachu would love some takoyaki too.
Tsukemen, 2015
During my stay in Osaka, my host strongly recommended this ramen place thats about two blocks away. The place was quiet, cosy and serves awesome tsukemen. I know I’ll be back again...one day.
Purple sky, 2015
Night stroll at the Singapore Botanic Garden. I should definitely make another trip down soon.
