To all the DBS and DBZ fans out there: I don’t understand, and I never will understand, those who hate Kaioshin.I think I know why, though. It stems from a lack of information and deeply flawed writing for the character. I honestly believe that if the flashback showing the death of the Kaioshins by Majin Buu’s hands had been placed right when they arrived at Babidi’s ship, but made much more tragic, things would be different. Imagine showing Kaioshin weeping over their deaths, showing him all alone, having nightmares about Bibidi and Buu slaughtering his peers...We would have seen him thrust into the rank of Grand Kaioshin with no one left to teach him anything, despite being so young. It would have changed everything. Every single one of us would have felt pity for him. From that perspective, seeing him doubt himself or tremble with fear when Buu emerges from the cocoon would have felt obvious. We wouldn't have seen a "cowardly" Kaioshin, but a traumatized young god, alone, carrying the weight of the universe on his broken shoulders. Then, in DBS, when Beerus constantly belittles him despite their life-link... imagine a serious argument between them. Something like: "You could have done something that day, Beerus... but you were sleeping." That would have had such an emotional impact! They could have also written a serious fight scene where Beerus has to be careful because Kaioshin is nearby, showing his fear that something might happen to him (and thus, to both of them). It would have been so intense! Because I truly believe that beyond the life-link, Beerus actually likes him in his own way.Why on earth didn't they go deeper into this?Even in the Moro arc, when Dai Kaioshin returns in a way, would it have been that hard to have him say to Goku and Vegeta: "By the way, say hello to Kaioshin for me! I hope he’s doing well!"That’s it! Just that! It would have changed so much... 😔It’s such a shame they didn't exploit Kaioshin’s feelings and emotions more. In DBS, they preferred to turn him into a "gag" character, even though he could be so much more intense. But despite all that, many still love this character!Like this post if you love him, and if you hate him, I really want to know why!!
