Choose a Bond character and then tell us what objects you would use to summon them.

I choose Bill Tanner. To summon him, one needs the following objects:

Chocolate (dark but not bitter, Lindt works well for example)

Herbal tea (he’s partial to chamomile in the evenings and berry fusions in the mornings)

A mobile showing lots of cat videos (for Q has hooked him on them and watching cute animals gives him extra serotonin, which he needs for dealing with field agents)

A book (the thicker the better and preferably sci-fi)

A nice fluffy blanket (best if it’s self-made and/or blue)

A gun (because he is, after all, MI6)

Fire Hazard - Bill Tanner/Alec Trevelyan - G

Written for @myndelling for the Collab table. (Prompt: “Do we need a fire extinguisher to deal with those candles?”)

Alec Trevelyan surveys the scene before him with satisfaction. No one gets to tell him he’s not romantic and live to tell the tale. If one measly candle on the table is considered the height of romance, his candlelit dinner blows that out of the water, that’s for damn sure.

And if all else fails, he has champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries waiting in the fridge.

“I didn’t know your power got cut out,” Bill says from the doorway, voice dry.

Alec turns to face him, delighted. “You’re early.”

Bill makes a point of looking through the sheer amount of candles meticulously arranged around Alec’s best china. It’s a sign of his ingenuity in engineering that there’s any room for those, really, as there’s none left for the serving plates.

"Do we need a fire extinguisher to deal with those candles?" he asks.

It’s as if Bill doesn’t know him at all. It’s probably all that time spent with Q and Moneypenny, Alec surmises. More’s the pity.

He affects a wounded look. “Don’t you appreciate my efforts to make date night special?”

“Appreciate, yes,” Bill replies mildly. “Feel bad for the curtains when they inevitably catch fire, emphatically also yes.”

007 Fest Intro Post

Celyan Shaw is here again. She has since graduated and is still interning at MI6, mostly in Q Branch, but she’s still eyeing the agent way of life as well. She likes to keep her options open, you see, and meanwhile she’s always ready to volunteer for anything related to guns, explosions, computers, and even learning to guide field agents. And, well, anything else really.

Last year’s conference sure was interesting, but this year everything should be calmer and easier. Well, at least that’s what Tanner and the others keep saying. Celyan’s not so sure, but to her, that’s the beauty of working in Six: you never know what will happen, and that’s exactly the way she wants it.

Hiya, it’s Mely again! It’s my 8th @mi6-cafe Fest this year and I’m definitely looking forward to everything this month brings us. ✨

I hope to write lots, do some other stuff too (especially fill out several scav hunt items), and hopefully even collaborate with others. And, as always, I would be more than happy to make some new friends. 🍵

Q’s Quick Chicken Pie

Now, contrary to a surprisingly popular belief, Q is not nor has he ever been a vegetarian.

He’s consired it a time or two, mostly out of wanting to do his bit for the environment, but he likes fish and chicken too much to ever see himself fully committing to it. He has cut back on his consumption of red meat, though, and he does like several vegetarian dishes so he tries to eat those more often.

When he’s busy and wants something quick but filling to eat (and that it leaves him leftovers for lunch the next day), Q likes to make this easy chicken pie. It’s also good for offering to friends during get-togethers.

Ingredients for the pastry:

100 grams butter

3 decilitres wheat flour

cold water

a pinch of salt

For the filling:

300 grams of chicken filetts (cut into chunks)

1 spring onion

about half a can of sweet corn (160-180 grams)

half a packet of crumbled blue cheese (75-90 grams)

1 can of crème fraîche (about 200 grams)

2 eggs

salt

black pepper

Rub the room temperature butter into the flour with the salt. Add cold water only enough to make a ball out of the dough. Then press it onto the lightly greased bottom of a round pie tin. Pre-bake in the oven for about 10 minutes in 200C.

For the filling, cut the chicken fillets into chunks and cook them. Add the cut up spring onion and sauté them for a few minutes. Spread the chicken, spring onion and sweet corn on top of the pre-baked dough. Add lots of crumbled blue cheese. In a separate bowl, stir the eggs with crème fraîche and the spices, then pour it over the filling.

Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes in 200C.

“Well then, Quartermaster, I’m sure you know what’s next,” the psychiatrist said, looking at Q over his glasses. “I say a word, and you’ll say the first word that comes to mind.”

Inwardly, Q sighed. “Yes, I have done this before.” And watched Bond go through it, though that part he left unsaid.

“Then let’s get started, shall we?” The psychiatrist cleared his throat. “Seat?”

“Chair.”

“Season?”

“Summer.”

“Pool?”

“Blue.”

“Available?”

“Taken.”

“Resource?”

“Agent.”

“Preach?”
