Finding a good short sleeved dress for work that is not some version of the trad wife aesthetic is so hard. The cleanest, non-fussy, and most work appropriate styles I’ve found are mostly sleeveless. I live in sleeveless dresses and tops in summer so I’m not against them, per se, especially slightly dressier for work. It’s that I don’t have enough time to work out and lift weights to turn my soft ice cream bon bon arms into two small pythons before classes start in two weeks.

My kitties had a terrible fight tonight. It was my fault, I accidentally stepped on my boy cat’s tail and his yowl startled my girl cat who was just a foot away from him. She went for him and he got so scared he hopped onto a dining chair trying to hide under the table and growled deep defensive growls. I shooed my girl cat away and into my bedroom - she was staring him down - and then did kitty checks. Both are okay physically, my boy cat seemed a little sore when I checked his tail, my girl kitty was agitated. What makes me sad and scared is the split second change from peace to chaos. We were about to have our tv time on the sofa together. My kitties are siblings, almost 9 years old and we’ve had them since they were 8 weeks old. Last summer due to both cats having health issues— pancreatitis for my girlie and an emergency surgery for my boy, they got into a terrible fight that had been building up due to food aggression - we always fed them next to each other and unbeknownst to us this stressed our girl cat because she eats slow and the boy kitty ate faster - he’s just bigger, orange tabby, and would move over to her plate when he was done. So she was hungry or stressed out all the time when eating and at times ate too fast and then would throw up. But when our tabby came back from surgery she did not recognize his scent and she hissed at him for days. Soon after we went away on a short trip and while they were fine with our kitty sitter, they had a horrible fight that drew blood on the last day. Our big kitty was terrified of our girl kitty and we had to start separating them. Reunification did not work the first times we tried so we installed a 6 foot gate in our hallway and these bonded siblings lived separate lives for almost six months before they decided to be friends again. We were all miserable. Seeing them fight again exactly like they did last year made me so sad and I am truly so scared that this fight that was caused by me will undo all the peace we’ve had since last fall. Please send all the good healing vibes to our little cats who we love so much. I am keeping them separated for the night. Please let them be okay in the morning.

Can I just say one thing? I love how Peter and Carl are keeping the fire alive between them. It’s 2026 and we are getting lap sitting and a passionate hair grab and so much tenderness and it’s barely the summer solstice! Who took the photo, btw? Bathrooms are meant for privacy. (Roger is that you? Quit holding out!) This new glorious P&C photo is working backwards on me and it’s so intense. Like, I was innocently cooking my high protein and fiber pasta while listening to my Libs (and side bands) mix and all the oldies come on, Libs and Babyshambles, you know the ones, and the angst is so strong I almost can’t bear it. But I had it on shuffle so then I hear “Glory Days” and I’m like whoa that is Peter’s favorite, he’s said it a few times that he wanted it for The Libs and he just digs it and I’m all “I BET!” channeling my best furious jealous Lestat cause boyyy that is a hard angry song with a wicked beat and Peter is all yaaas bish gimme MORE and I’m all do you hear what Carl is singing and I conclude of course and furthermore he likes he man and he beat on the butch side and suddenly that lyric about doing press ups in the yard floats in the air like a movie and I can hardly breathe at their PASSION and DESIRE on display just like that all the time like it’s always been. Then I hear “Lust of the Libertines” and it’s so funny and ridiculous and I have no trouble at all picturing them happy and randy in a little Heated Rivalry cottage getting each other “in a family way” every chance they get and I can’t help but love them even more than ever. Can I just say that?

I am finding it very hard to do simple little things. I just sit paralyzed at the thought of anything that isn’t watching tv or going to bed or reading my pleasure books or hanging out with my bae or cats. Listen I am even reading Dante trying to escape this relentless hellscape. Ironic I know. It’s divinely comical. Most days than not I do get my work done. I am competent at my j-o-b. I put my phone on silent forever and stick it in a drawer all day after I check the weather. I read all the news late, I ignore my fav socials and don’t really miss it, I do the dishes without a bangin’ soundtrack, I even go to the stinky gym without complaint. But I don’t do the simple little things for hours or days even weeks at a time and I don’t get any sleep either.

Something that I have noticed is I know almost nobody my age that goes to a food pantry. I know people who regularly run out of money for food and in general have to eat an unsuitable diet because that’s what they can afford and they still don’t go to a food bank, im not sure if it’s because they’re embarrassed or maybe if you didn’t grow up going you don’t know much about it but if you’re financially struggling I really recommend it. And look into other options for food assistance too like community fridges and gardens and other programs that can assist you, where I live Salvation Army pays for an allotted amount of grocery delivery for low income people every month, in the summer farmers take excess produce to the library to be taken by anyone who needs it, etc. There are a LOT of resources for free food that you can look into especially if you are literally not eating because of your financial situation
