Knowing that Abel was an NPC entirely set-up by Caine really puts this scene into perspective. It’s not a creator feeling sorry for his creation; it’s Caine talking about HIMSELF.

Unlike everyone else, he doesn’t ever have the chance to leave. He’d live in eternal isolation. Exist knowing he was abandoned. Hence why he erased the names of the players … he’s not evil, but being a sentient AI gives him such a screwed up perspective of what is right and wrong.
