Mending a broken Britain with cups of tea!
One of the results of the mend and repair project. A ceramic UK tea tray and tiny teacups in white porcelain.
I started the day making two more teacups - this time using candle wax. This will be so that I can compare the results with the modelling wax teacups when I pour hot tea/water in them. This is working towards another aspect of my mend and repair project - this is my repair broken Britain project. I will be posting my progress!
Hopefully these will both come out of the moulds well as the candle wax is much more brittle.
I have some old ‘silver’ tribal beads and bracelets that I bought earlier this year from Clock Tower Souq in Riyadh. My favourite bead is the one that is most battered and broken - I just love the character of it.
I’ve decided to see whether I can restore it, not to its original condition but to an object of beauty that others also appreciate.
Today I began by drilling small holes all around it’s openings (covering the bead with masking tape to prevent the drill but from slipping). Then cleaning them up using industrial degreaser.
I plan to weave and darn the beads with metallic threads.
