Magical Starsign (DS)
This is an amazing and well thought-out rpg that's not nearly popular enough outside of Japan (Nintendo of Australia wouldn't even release it there for fear of low sales)
I only played this because my friend had it and I've never heard anyone mention it but it's my most played-through rpg.
The game starts with you picking a qt boy or girl main character and your magic type: either dark or light. light is direct healing, dark is damage that also heals you.
each character is a mage of a different element, and all of you also get physical attacks as well. The story involves going through each of the planets in your known solar system, saving your comrades and trying to save all of the planets from destruction.
once you finish, the game gives you incentive to play through as the element you didnt pick because the final level is different based on your element (also the game's super fun so play it again)
The art style looks great in the overworld(s), even though it looks a bit gross in some battles or some character talk sprites. The atmosphere's wonderful. You get a wind bunny and a grass lizard and fucking Mokka in your team.
play this game. play it for mokka.
Candy Box
This game is getting a spread around and it's gonna take a few minutes for you to understand why. It starts off slow, but picks up before you even realize what's happening.
Other than that, there's not much I can say except I've spent 2 days straight playing this. Some tips under the cut:
Denpa Man
I went into this demo knowing absolutely nothing about this game except it has jrpg elements and was worked on by the pokemon colloseum head
it starts off with the augmented reality thing where it uses the cameras as a background and a little white man was floating around telling me things
then in the overworld i’m told i have to fight the King of Evil, a worthy adversary
then I go back to the augmented reality to capture more little men with nets - they look a bit like the guys from katamari damacy
Then once I catch another dude and put him in my party I’m sent into a dungeon resembling a Pokemon mystery dungeon overhead view, and the first enemy i encounter is
OINK RABBITS
all in all 10/10. There’s a second one coming out soon. I highly suggest you at least download the demo if not pay $10 to get this amazing game
Reblogging this from my main blog, since it inspired menk reviews.
A few extra details:
- This game is hard. At least, the first run through was hard. I actually used every advantage I found in the dungeon and still lost a character in the final boss fight
- There were also corn on the cob monsters and the boss was a pretty cool looking Wolfbear
- The art style and everything about this game is very enjoyable
For a ten dollar game, this is pretty enjoyable. It already got a sequel in japan which is planned for release overseas. Go play this!
