The ways we got here
A âPhoenix Wright Ace Attorneyâ fanfic
Relationships: Miles Edgeworth/Pheonex Wright
(1/1 chapters, 1,150 words.)
Summary:
Miles found himself gazing fondly down at Phoenix, he felt that fuzzy warm feeling in his stomach, like little butterflies dancing in his chest⊠hmm he wondered if he should get that checked out. Probably.
Or: fluffy Wrightworth I wrote in biology instead of paying attention.
It was a warm day out, beautiful really. Birds chirped and cars rushed past as he made his way to the small coffee shop wright had insisted they go to. As he stood in front of the cafe named, âCupa Cloudâ he looked at the bricks on the exterior, white paint chipping off. A large window with several plants displayed gave the small cafe a welcoming presence. He decided to stop stalling, and he finally stepped into the shop. It was shockingly quiet compared to the Starbucks that his sister sometimes dragged him to, and the design was⊠not his taste, with chipping paint and chairs that didnât match set around every table.
âMiles!â âOh, right.â Miles thought, walking over to Write. They had given each other permission to use first names.
âHello Wright.â He said, as he sat on a worn wooden chair across from Wright.
âI told you that you could call me Phoenix you know! Of course that is only if you want to-â
âOf course⊠Phoenix.â Miles huffed at his friend. He immediately found the decision to use the others first name to be the right one, as Phoenix broke out into a bright grin.
Just then, a college age girl came over and set 2 cups on the table in front of them. âIf you need anything else, please feel free to ask!â she says before walking away.
âOh!â Wri- no, Phoenix said. âI ordered lavender-chamomile tea for you, and a mint steamer for myself.â Phoenix pushed a wonderfully smelling cup toward miles, and pulled his own cup of steaming hot milk toward himself.
âIsnât it a bit warm to be getting that drink?â Miles asked wright.
âYouâre drinking warm tea! Besides, a warm cup of mint flavored milk never goes out of season.â Phoenix said defensively.
âI suppose thatâs fair.â
The rest of the little outing went well, Miles savored his tea until it ultimately became time to leave. When later questioned why he asked Phoenix if he would like to meet up at his place to drink tea, and watch Signal Samurai in a week, he would claim it was a mindless spur of the moment decision. And while, that may hold some truth, the main reason was the nearly intoxicating warm feeling he felt around Phoenix. He had never felt this way for someone, and that scared him, but he really didnât care when he was with Phoenix. It was like the world around them faded and they fell into their own world.
They met up every Thursday night, unless of course, if there was a big case that overlapped. They met at Milesâs place to watch Signal Samurai, and have tea. On more than one occasion, the night ended in someone dozing off on the otherâs shoulder, or both men cuddled up closer than Miles would like to admit.
That brings Miles back to his current predicament, Phoenix was sound asleep on his shoulder. Now, normally this really wouldnât be a problem, but he had paused the show when he found Phoenix asleep, and now he was left alone with his thoughts. Miles carefully attempted to move the spiky haired man, only for Phoenix to wrap his arms around Milesâs waist and rest his head on the prosecutorâs lap. âWell shit.â Edgeworth thought, already resigned to stay in this position for a while.
After a few minutes, Miles found himself gazing down at Phoenix, and resisting the urge to run his hands through the other manâs hair. That would be most unprofessional, of course. He felt that fuzzy warm feeling in his stomach, like little butterflies dancing in his chest⊠hmm he wondered if he should get that checked out. That probably wasnât a normal feeling. He sighed, giving into the urge to run his hands through his âfriendâsâ hair. After all, no one was there to know and Wright surely wouldnât wake any time soon after the long day heâd had.
Suddenly, completely unbidden, a frankly embarrassing and traitorous thought appeared in his mind. âPhoenix is rather cute.â Why had he thought that? His friend was not cute. Not that he wasnât attractive or anything, itâs just he didnât think of his friend in that way!
âŠ
Right?
âŠ
Oh fuck.
No. He couldnât like Phoenix like that! That would be completely unprofessional and⊠Phoenix shifted in his sleep, unaware of the mental war Miles was currently having. As he looked at Phoenix, he found himself realizing that he really didnât care if it was âunprofessional.â After a few minutes of careful consideration, he sighed and decided that it would be utterly pointless to ignore the fact he fancied Phoenix.
No, fancied is too light of a word. Miles then promptly came to another earth shattering revelation. He was completely and utterly head over heels in love for his best friend.
Fuck.
Miles then, promptly trying to figure out how the hell he even got here, sat there for what felt like hours thinking, whilst absently running his fingers through Phoenixâs now messy hair.
Suddenly, something shocked him out of his thoughts, the man on his lap spoke. âMmmh milesâŠ?â
âHello Wright.â Miles said, nervously.
Phoenix laughed tiredly, âyou can call me Phoenix you know..â
âMhm of course, Wright.â Miles spoke, slightly reluctant to speak his friendâs first name after his revolution, not wanting to make Phoenix feel uncomfortable if he found out about Milesâs⊠unnecessary feelings.
Phoenix grumbled, getting out of his lap and sitting next to miles. Suddenly, without thinking, Miles blurted out âPhoenix wright, I am in love with you.â
Phoenix promptly turned bright red and spluttered indignantly. Miles thought this the right time to speak as he nervously said âI understand if you donât feel the same way, as this is probably quite unpro-â suddenly something warm pressed against his lips.
Oh. Phoenix was kissing him
Oh.
Then, all too soon, Phoenix pulled back, his face still flushed. âMiles, I have to admit, I have been utterly head over heels for you since the 4th grade. Also was that ok? Iâm sorry I kissed you it was kinda a heat of the moment decision, and-â
Miles, deciding to return the favor, kissed Phoenix lightly before pulling away and stating âPhoenix, it is perfectly fine.â
âOh- I wow. Ok.â Phoenix stuttered.
Miles decided, in that moment, that maybe he was grateful for all the events that had led up to this. Maybe.
âŠ
(Definitely.)
Notes:
I wrote this when I was like 14 and thought I would post it over here now that Iâve officially made a blog dedicated to writing fanfics. Iâve been playing AA since I was about 6 years old, and Iâll be honest, Maya was in fact my lesbian awakening. (Ps Iâm really sorry about any errors 14 year old me made, I am dyslexic. That being said, feel free to give constructive criticism in the comments đ)
