So I was thinking about Uma, and realized something interestingā
Uma always includes her crew in her aspirations and efforts. She holds herself in a bit higher regard as captain, but they are always included
Right before Whatās My Name, she pulls in Harry and Gil when dreaming of taking over Auradon:
āSon of Hook, Son of Gaston, and most of all, me, daughter of Ursulaā
She includes all three of them in the statementāthey share the glory
In the chorus of Whatās My Name:
āNo oneās gonna stop us, soon the world will be oursā
Again, she speaks with the collective āusā and āoursā including her crew in the glory
The spell she says during the trade off before Itās Going Down:
āBy the power of the sea, tear it down and set us free!ā
Us, not just me
Or skipping ahead to D3, when Mal reveals she lied about taking more kids off the isle
āSo we saved your kingdom, and your behinds, all for a lie?ā
We, again including Harry and Gil in the statement
Iām sure thereās more examples, but I canāt really pull them up right now. I think itās a really interesting detail that adds to Uma always thinking of the collective Isle. Her crew isnāt a means to an end, theyāre just as important to the goal as she is, and she makes sure they know that
