to a land that isn’t our own
take my hand and we’ll make it home
nice. you said she was good
ooc: rl has taken a hold as of late. i hope to get back to rp'ing soon. there's still the matter of a wedding...
Emily held tightly to Matt’s hand as they left the Registar’s office. She found that she had been less nervous when confronted with a frightful arboreal raptor. While the filed the appropriate paperwork, she kept imagining that something terrible would happen to keep them from completing the task.
But nothing dreadful occurred, and now she and Matt were in possession of a license to wed.
Matt was a bit surprised at how easy that went. But he was happy. Finally something worked out well. No surprising apocalypses and nothing.
“Well… that was easy.”
Emily nodded. She turned to him and smiled slightly. “It was. Though, we still have the small matter of our wedding to plan.”
”Smaller?”, Matt asked His voice sounded amused. “I think that’s the bigger part, my lady.”
“Well…yes.” Matt was right. The wedding was no small matter. There was still much to be done, much to plan. They still had yet to move into the house. “What shall we do next?”
”Go home and continue to pack?”, Matt suggested with a smile. “There is still plenty to do.”
"Yes," Emily agreed. "I will prepare some lunch for us, something simple."

license to wed

Emily smiled. “Oh, I am not worried about that in the least. I do not imagine it would go very well for you if you did treat me badly.”
It was easy to believe that. After all their first meeting had been rather eventful and painful for him. “I believe hitting me with a stick would only be the beginning of what you would do to me in that case… “
Emily laughed. “It always goes back to that one moment, doesn’t it? I can’t say that you’re wrong, though.”
”That’s the only moment you hit me physically after all.” The other time she hit his heart with her whole being.
“Well, I’ve refrained from hitting you again for this long, so you may be safe.”
”Unless I screw up, right?”, he asked and kissed her again.
“Right.” Emily smiled and kissed him again. “You will do fine, Matt.” She had every ounce of confidence in him.
”If you say so.” The former soldier smiled at her. “So will you.”
“I hope so,” Emily sighed. She leaned her head against Matt’s shoulder.
“Do you want to go to bed, Emily?”, the former soldier asked.
Emily was just about to protest, to tell Matt that she was not tired, when a yawn answered for her. “I suppose I am tired after all.”
A warm smile appeared on Matt’s lips, when she confirmed his suspicion, that she was tired. He gently kissed her once again: “Then let’s go”
Emily smiled sleepily. She took Matt's hand as they walked downstairs to the bedroom.
