With gritted teeth and a now ruined cigarette crushed in his hand, Alfendi raced through the school campus, trying not to get hit by any of the paintballs. Papers flew out of his pockets, but he didn’t pay any mind.
When he finally went inside the school building, he sighed, pressing his hands to his head. His hair dulled down, no longer the vibrant and disheveled mess it was. Transitioning from one personality to another really was a pain in the head. Not long after that, he had heard someone call his name. Someone…French. The inspector lowered his hands into his pockets, finding a young girl in front of him. She was holding the papers he had dropped, too. They were nothing important, really. Just news reports on murders and the such.
Alfendi took the papers from the girl’s hands and shoved them back into his pockets. “Ah—Thank you. I suspect you’ll be one of my students this year?”
As her teacher took the papers from her hands, Marie couldn't help but let a small breath of relief escape her. She'd heard one or two or several unsavory stories about one Alfendi Layton since her arrival in the academy, but he didn't seem like so terrible a guy. Maybe a little annoyed--and really who wouldn't have been--but nice all the same.
Yes, those rumors had to have been about some other Layton, she decided. Probably not some other Alfendi, but definitely another Layton.
"Oh--yes, yes I am! My name is Marie; I'm in your Criminology class." A rather unusual class choice for a (now) well-to-do member of Paris's nobility, but. Well. She had her reasons. "My transfer was pretty quick, so I'm... not sure if I was put on the roster, just yet."
