I’m just going to write some words into the void.
If it’s real and this was the actual wedding, it feels impersonal and not very romantic or fitting for the public persona she built for years.
If it’s real and this was a secondary event and there was a private, more intimate ceremony held elsewhere, that would be better, but the whole show of it is still off-putting and the messaging is odd.
The chosen officiant. The party favor with the “…” instead of deliberately attempting to change the meaning of that lyric with a “.” or an “!”. The lavender background on the screens announcing the ceremony had concluded. The song she chose to walk down the aisle to. A long rumored muse wearing gold. That one guy in maroon. Seemingly every celebrity they’ve ever met getting invited.
I still don’t think it’s real, but as I’ve always said, I could be wrong.
And if it is real, then this might be the greatest showing of why her public persona can be unlikeable. The venue and the amount of celebrities attending, some being problematic themselves, is off-putting enough.
She chose Madison Square over the Rose Garden in the end.
It all seems intentional and like there is more to the story.
Because it’s such a turnabout from her previous public persona. It’s like she decided to fully embrace a certain path - one that the old version(s) might have mocked.
But maybe, hopefully, someday this version won’t be able to answer the phone.
Or maybe this new persona was the real version of her all along.
I highly doubt it.
I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
I just hope I’m still able to come to the phone when/if it all finally reaches a conclusion.
But maybe that call will never come.
I have yet to listen to the latest album. I’ve heard bits and pieces, none of which really made me interested in hearing the rest. The previous two albums had maybe a couple to a handful, at most, of songs that I actually enjoyed.
To each their own, but those sister albums were her greatest work as an artist and will be hard to top. I’m sure she has more of that in her arsenal.
Almost everything she released prior to Midnights was greater than anything she’s released since, in my opinion.
Perhaps, it’s been too long since she’s had a real muse.
Maybe it’s all part of the plan.
Or, perhaps, she’s finally happy and it’s harder to find inspiration.
Except, she should have had plenty of inspiration since the lockdown albums - heartbreak, rebound, then finally finding “the 1” - and yet the work still seems less inspired. Maybe because it’s all an illusion.
Or maybe, just maybe, it’s all a prelude to a greater, deeper conclusion.
There’s a reason I’ve kept a distance, especially since September 2023.
There’s a reason I’m not as active in these spaces.
I mean, that is partly because I’m too old and busy to spend hours of my week or day on the internet refreshing l chat like I used to at the height of gaylor from 2009-2017 - not to mention the early LiveJournal days or that I wrote a comment on the first page of the first ever l chat thread - so, yes, I’ve been in this a long time and have taken multiple breaks for my own sanity.
After all this time, I always go back to the lyrics.
Which is why, from a distance, I’ll sit back and wait to see if it all goes down in flames.
