So, I take a Shakespeare class (a blessing) and the class consists of 90% acting the plays out and 10% for-credit assignments. While reading King Lear, one such assignment is an AITA post from the character we play, and I thought ya’ll would enjoy

Anyone else thinks about how James and Meredith are each other’s Lacy? This book is a prison istg
I just completed reading If We Were Villains by ML Rio.
I still don't understand why Richard was being so rude. What was his motive? Why was he behaving like an ass in the first place. Other than that the book is amazing. I enjoyed it well. 4/5 starts for me.
I think it was just the environment and their inability to separate themselves from their roles. Richard was the one who played the lead roles, the most complex ones. His violence was the first to start showing up. We can see later on how the others start to follow. It’s like Oliver and Alexander discussed, were they always terrible people? Or did they learn it from Richard?
i lowkey hope i haunt the narrative
Gotta pull that Richard vibe

perhaps this whimsical fucked up absolutely bonkers book will finally be the one to fix me
“I can still see it, lush and green and wild, in some tiny way enchanted, like Oberon’s wood, or Prospero’s island. There are things they don’t tell you about such magical places — that they’re as dangerous as they are beautiful.”
— M.L. Rio, If We Were Villains

yes they are toxic but it is because of the love. without the love it would be a lot healthier actually.
