I still have unfinished work to do
Me
Last day of my internship
Today was tamariki ora day where I couldn’t go as I had an erin to do at lunchtime. So I was given time to complete all tasks or planning needed to help whaea Raukura in order for her to maybe use towards a lesson plan. I also used that time to complete other assignments for Taarati’s class. I was basically in the library all day doing research. It was time used well!

Day 13 20.06.18
Drawing 101
Drawing exercise organised at the last minute. Helped give me an idea of their drawing skill and what they know and don’t know. Also helped Whaea Wairua do a simple drawing exercise that can be used often to improve drawing skills throughout the years. A activity which students were not use to but enjoyed from the amount of silence during this task. Was challenging for a few of the boys but overall they had done well where drawings were awesome for first experience. I enjoy seeing students do a task where they are creatively stimulated and enjoy challenges that I teach. Makes it all worth while. The drawing exercise was around a display and do 2 - 5 minute drawings and rotating their position. Where each chair they faced a different medium to work with.
Day 12 15.06.18
Who can create the highest tower?
Today I laid down a challenge to our year 9 students. The task was to create a tower with spaghetti pasta, sellotape and string within one period which had to hold a marsh mallow for more than 10 secs. It was about creativity again, structure and teamwork. This was a competitive task for all boys but in the end there was only one winner being two girls and boy. I’m sure they enjoyed this task as they asked me if we can have a shared lunch next week.
Day 10 photos
Day 10 continues
This was the opportunity where I worked in getting year 11′s in the development stage of their mural assessment. They were to color in their final work with coloring pencil, finish that off and then go to the photocopier and play around with the color settings on it. They were to do an original copy, a black and white copy, a positive and negative copy, taking out one color copy, and one color of the students choice which will cover the whole drawing. They were to see if they changed their mind with choosing what they wanted originally or wanting a developed idea.
This was the outcome of the creative task for year 9 toi
Day 10 13.06.18
I was given responsibility of teaching year 9′s to fill in time as they are still having to prepare for their tukutuku panels. I had given them a simple creative task where they have to think quick with a short amount of time to design an outfit out of newspaper, sellotape, string and feathers. They were to be marked by whaea Raukura by two things which included creativity and the durability of the costume which had to not fall off while the model was doing their cat walk. There were two teams competing against each other and they were to name their group which ended up being NSW and QLD.
The students loved this activity.
Day 9 08.06.18
Today was put aside for students to do assessment tests. So students had undergone mock exam type setting which was set up in the hall. They were to do exams Te Reo Maori level 1 - 3 and Te reo rangatira level 1 - 3. It was about finding what students have been picking up during classes and whether there needs to be some adjustments for teachers. I was in charge of collecting assessments and compiling them into some logical order for teachers.
The afternoon was hakinakina (sport) for all the secondary students in preparation for tamariki ora day (sports day) which is a day of a chosen sport where they compete against other competing kura kaupapa schools within Auckland.
Today was a good day
