Hi. I'm Andre. How are u this bright and early Sunday ?
Pretty good, yourself?
Christmas on North Captiva Island this year! Some serious exploring via kayak was done!
It's so peaceful out in the marshes next to JFK international airport...well if you don't mind the planes every ten minutes. The whole area is still littered with trash from hurricane Sandy...everything from full size boats to household items. It always feels so surreal when you find this much undeveloped land in the greater New York metropolitan area.
This is your brain on electronics!
Ski weekend at Whiteface with the best people I know!
Trip to Ottawa!
Washington D.C. - some of the facades of this town are straight from the story books. This building is a throw back to the old Snead & Co. Iron Works of Jersey City, NJ. The company predominantly specialized in making iron shelves for libraries and we're masters of ornate iron work designs.
Old Astoria - Astoria, Queens, New York
I stumbled upon an article on Forgotten New York's website about "Old Astoria" which was one of the first parts of Queens to be settled. The streets don't reflect the same grid patterns and the houses are all separated dwellings with yards.
Each couple of blocks is another old church that are still in use today. The area gives an interesting contrast to the stark "Queens Aesthetic" as we all like to refer to our rows of squat brick houses.

Bullet Space - Manhattan, New York
This is probably one of the most interesting spaces I've ever been in. What started out as a tenement building hosting 90 people at the turn of the century became a home to squatters in the late 80's. The squatters eventually stayed in the building long enough and was given ownership by the city for the price of 1$.
All of the squatters were artists that created their own stoves for heat and built running utilities throughout the house themselves. We got the chance to meet one of the residents who gave us a tour and showed us all of the artifacts they had found from the tenements.
Today Bullet Space is still an open art gallery with many different rotating artists and functions. A lot of history was witnessed and recorded here and the gallery is a huge part of the lower east side culture.
Moving Day - Alphabet City, New York
As fast as some people move into the city - they are just as quick to leave. And when they do, they make no mistake by bringing any little reminders with them. A whole persons life was strewn across the sidewalk for all to see.
The Marble Cemetery - East Village, New York
A New York City landmark, the New York City Marble Cemetery is one of only two non-denominational burial grounds. Built entirely of underground vaults. The original burial place of President James Monroe and resting place of many of the New York's founding families. It remains a green oasis. - credit open house new york.

Os Gemeos - Alphabet City, New York
Street art at it's best!
Renee and Chaim Gross Foundation - Manhattan, New York
An artist work shop and abstract gallery all in one! It was an interesting space with examples of almost every kind of art. Definitely worth a stop in, especially if your into African and Pre-Colombian sculpture.
