Rick Snyder gets shredded on Capitol Hill: ‘You’re dripping with guilt but drawing your salary’

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder testified this Thursday at a Flint congressional hearing over the water crisis. Snyder, who oversaw the state while its residents were being poisoned by the bacteria and lead-infested water, was the subject of harsh criticism from Congressmen Matt Cartwright who believes that the governor knew more than what he is saying about the tainted water supply.

Roasted. Thank you, Rep. Cartwright. It was thoroughly enjoyable to watch this criminal be told he’s a phony and a liar to his face. Snyder’s led a privileged life where he’s never been in a position to be chastised by anyone, and he certainly deserved this one given that 100,000 people were poisoned under his watch. #Hate it!

Morning Yasssssssss, Hunty:  Danusia Francis Beam Routine (Facebook: UCLA Gymnastics)

UCLA’s Danusia Francis scored a perfect ten on her beam routine earlier this week and I need y’all to catch this dismount.  Apparently it’s one of her signatures, but I’ve never seen it before and I bout stood straight up off my couch when she stuck that.  And her spirit fingers are just the cutest!  We might see her in the Olympics this year.  In 2012 she almost made the British team, but she served as an alternate instead.  This year she’s competing for Jamaica so she might actually make it to the big show.

I love how the colored girls are truly giving it to the gymnastics world these days.  I mean, aside from Simone and Gabby at the very top of the sport, clips from college meets keep going viral and I have yet to see the next Shannon Miller or Svetlana Khorkina or Shawn Johnson going viral.  It’s always a brown girl. Danusia’s teammate Sophina DeJesus went viral a couple of months ago, but it was Lloimincia Hall’s floor routine from awhile back that really set the tone.  Go ‘head, y’all.  Shake the sport up some more.  Let me see a nae nae at the Olympics.

If ONE MORE PERSON says “What if they’d medicated Van Gogh!?” I think I’m permitted to set things on fire.  If they’d medicated Van Gogh, he’d either have painted twice as much, or he’d have been happy and unproductive.  And you know what? Starry Night wasn’t worth a terrible price in human misery. It’s neat. It wasn’t worth it. Sometimes I wonder if being an artist makes me jaded to ART. Because it’s not magic and it’s not mystical, it’s just paint or pixels.  And it can do amazing things! But you don’t owe humanity to be miserable just so you can move paint around in interesting shapes. Jesus.  Art is not some kind of Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas bargain where you agree to be miserable so everybody can go “oh! Neat!” for 5 minutes.
