They probably won't eat you, but some humans... well, let's say they either want to destroy what's alien to them or get it under their control. They may be a minority, but a risky one, Dear. Your human companion will not let them hurt you.

As for what am I? Not alive, yet not dead either, one stuck in between. Personally, I am a fan of drinking blood of wild animals. Some of my kin do prefer human blood, though. You are prone to drying out if not in water, I burn in the sunlight. I do not know much about that... vile Lady I had mentioned earlier, she is a weird one. Doesn't function like the rest of us.

And because of her, your dear Chris may be wary of me, if not hostile to me. I truly do not mean harm, but I understand where he may come from. I just enjoy a good talk after hours of solitude, nothing more. You can call me Vergil, Dear.

[Leon flips his tail in the water curiously] ... will you try to suck my blood? wait! can you swim, V - [the name feels a bit funny on his tongue, his nose scrunching up. its a lot harder to say than Chris'] Ver - gill?

[he cocks his head then, pointing a claw up at the mysterious Vergil] you're not trying to trap me or anything, are you? because that's the only reason chris would be upset. i think.

It's nice to see other non-humans navigating this world. You will get a hang of it at some point, trust me. Do you want to meet more humans? Or is it too overwhelming for now?

[leon jumps in the water, his ears flicking back as he leans up against the wood of the pier to look at the creature before him. it... smells different than a human, but is human shaped. strange.]

more humans? ... i don't know... chris says that sometimes they can be scary, even though he isn't. will they try to eat me? and, what's a vampire? why do you smell so funny and coppery?

What is your favorite food?

this is going to sound funny but one time chris brought this human food to the beach. he called it pizza? it was unlike anything i've ever eaten before. those... what were they - little round discs of meat. very tasty. so pizza! unless i'm out in the sea, then sea scallops!

Do you guys have pets?

nooo... no pets. but the land puppies i've seen are sooooo cute! chris won't let me keep one though, which make sense, since they can't breathe under water....

is your phone waterproof? or do you have to check it on the surface every so often? does chris handle phone privileges?? sorry for the bombardment i've just never met a merman before, let alone one so tech-savvy

oooo this is a good question!

chris got me this waterproof bag to put the phone in, so i can take it down into the water with me! but i have to give him it when it starts to run out of charge... [he slouches slightly] n sometimes chris says he's worried I'll get addicted to it so he keeps it until i go out and play in the water for a bit. sometimes i like to drag chris with me though... hehe... he looks funny all wet n dishelved...

[his tail flicks up in the water] oh! but I'm not tech savy. it took me forever to figure out how to use this thing with my claws! i mostly just text chris pictures of sea critters and then talk to you guys! i don't know what else this thing can do... can it do more than this?

How do you stay warm without blubber or thick fur?

[Leon's head cocks to the side] huh, i've never really thought too hard about it. maybe because i'm what chris calls a cold-blooded creature? [he giggles then, recalling a time when he pressed his cold hands to chris' bare back, making the human yelp] chris doesn't seem to mind too much though! his flesh is super warm...

hi! [Leon perks up, excited] yes i have! he saved me in the waters off the beach one day when my tail got bit by a shark. it was kinda scary at first because that was the first time i ever met a human, but chris turned out to be really nice! now i hangout with him all the time! [tail flips back and forth happily]
