Mermay Day 9: Alligator Gar

The alligator gar is a massive, ancient fish with a toothy snout and armor-like scales, earning it the nickname “living fossil.” Found in southern U.S. rivers and swamps, it breathes both air and water and hunts as an underwater ambush predator. Despite its fearsome looks, it poses no threat to humans-unless you eat its toxic eggs.

I was looking for little mermaid Christmas-related artwork when I rediscovered this image of Adella with a nameless merman from a book that Disney released back in 1993 called, An Under the Sea Christmas: A Holiday Songbook. It was half storybook half songbook filled with sheet music for many familiar Christmas songs.
