they keep blonde rubber ducky isopods so i decided to make their cake into one!

it’s a lemon pound cake with lemon glaze, m&ms for the eyes, and spaghetti noodles for the legs and antennae.

My husband took my kids to see the new How to Train Your Dragon movie.

I didn't go because I lost my hearing a week and a half ago in my left ear, and I'm still waiting to get into a doctor.

Anyways. He comes home, and the 1st thing he says to me is, "I never realized this before, but Toothless is an axolotl. He's like our axolotl. He even moves like one."

On a side note, we have officially hatched and kept an axolotl alive for a whole year!

My brother in law recently became a veterinarian and it has really driven the point home as to how fucking bonkers veterinary medicine is. We don't expect human physicians to really know much outside of their own specialty - a dentist, an otolaryngologist, and a maxillofacial surgeon are three totally different dudes. Meanwhile a veterinarian at a wildlife rehab center is doing orthopedic surgery on a hawk and then doing rounds on baby hedgehogs in the hedgehog NICU and administering antibiotics to a ratsnake. And he also knows how to perform surgical interventions on a cow! What the fuck! Those are all totally, wildly different kinds of animal!!

Shout out to veterinarians, they know Too Much.
