In the middle of nowhere with a crisply azure bright sky. If we’re not supposed to dance, why all this music indeed?

Hedwig the snow-owl. She initially started off as a snowman, but there was something about her sharp-edged nose that reminded me of Hedwig from when I first read the books eight years ago. The mild hypoxia at around 16,000 feet didn’t exactly help my first attempt at even touching snow, lol.

An oil pastel rendition of 'Stitching the Standard' by Edmund Leighton (1911).
This was my first time drawing a face with oil pastels. Not perfect by any means, but I had fun experimenting!

Original video taken at 16,040 feet at the merging point of the Pir Panjal, Zanskar and the Great Himalayan mountain ranges at Baralacha La. Cutting through these snow-capped peaks is this small stream dependent on melting glaciers for its water source. The azure blue sky with a bright, scalding midday sun adorning every shift of the meltwater stream was quite a sight to behold!

Cradled in the lap of the Himalayas at almost 12,300 feet. Absolutely breathtaking!
