Being friends with The Marauders would include:
► James giving you random piggy back rides on the way to class. He’d even carry you up several flights of stairs, pretending his arms wouldn’t ache at all after climbing up the never-ending steps to the Astronomy Tower.
► Sirius falling asleep on your shoulder during History Of Magic, almost drooling on your robes, but you always make sure to wake him before he could embarrass himself further.
► Sirius carrying you to the common room when you fall asleep in the library because you have been studying for days on end and don’t know your limits.
► James and you betting on things like grades and House points and watching James jam out a victory dance when he wins those bets, knowing you’d never hear the end of it.
► Remus reading your shared favourite book to you in front of the fireplace, while you rest your head in his lap, watching the shadows of the flames dancing in rhythm to his calming voice.
► Peter asking you for advice on how to approach the person he likes, and it ending with you pep talking Peter into actually asking out said person.
► Long autumn afternoons spend at the lake, sitting on a large, comfortable blanket, back resting against a tree, a sickly, but happy Remus dozing off next to you, while you watch James and Sirius chasing a loudly laughing Peter into the ice cold water.
► Watching the stars from the Astronomy Tower, a basket full of food nicked from the kitchens by your side, listening to the stories of the boys’ adventures, cracking jokes and laughing together, while the night turns into morning and paints the sky a soft lilac colour.
► Dragging Sirius away from McGonagall at least once a week because he wants to admit his ‘feelings’ for her again (”You wouldn’t want to break half the school’s hearts, would you, Sirius?” “But-” “Shut up, I said no.”)
► Standing guard with Peter, whenever the other three are up to something mischievous again, and coming up with fun little games you two play to pass the time.
► Occasionally talking to Lily in the hallways and winking devilishly at James, just to later tell him that Lily was actually talking about him again, but never revealing what she’d said. Occassionaly being hit in the face with a sandwich as a consequence.
► Remus always making sure you get at least one slice of buttered toast before Peter, the toast fanatic, manages to eat them all, even though he knows you love them too. He just loves them a little bit more than you do, he’s sure of that. You, however, would say it’s rather debatable though.
► The train rides at the end of the semester are spent sitting between Peter and Sirius with your legs propped up against the seat opposite you, almost knocking a stash of Remus’ books off the bench, trading Chocolatefrog Cards you collected over the months. James would spoil you all with Cauldron Cakes and Pumpkin Pasties as you’d recall your plans for the summer, which you were all hoping to spend at the Potter’s house. A lopsided grin would spread across your face as the evening sun shines through the window, narrating the end of another adventurous year.
