if u ever called me pretty I lov you. ur pretty too
im rotting its fine
I was at Hot Topic and saw this cool tshirt for some band or something called Bring Me the Horizon and idk what bring me the horizon is and don’t really care but the shirt is cute so i’ll wear it
This was an experiment. See how people started getting mad at me for “buying” a Bring Me The Horizon shirt, when I said I really knew nothing about them? How I said I bought it simply because I thought it was cute? Completely disregarding who the band was?
This is how people from other cultures feel when you purchase and wear garb from their culture with no knowledge of what that garb symbolizes and means. If you wear or use something for the wrong reasons, people get mad.
This has got to be by far one of the best ways to explain cultural appropriation to people.

Lemony Snicket's Advice on Writing a Nice Thank-You Note
1. Do not start with the thank you.
2. Start with any other sentence. If you first say, “Thank you for the nice sweater,” you can’t imagine what to write next. Say, “It was so wonderful to come home from school to find this nice sweater. Thank you for thinking of me on Arbor Day.”
3. Then you’re done.
I recommend learning how to write a very good thank-you note. A child who can write a nice thank-you note can turn into a cocaine dealer five years later and be remembered as the child who wrote nice thank-you notes.

can we talk about how amazing cartoon network is and how amazing they feature diversity (race, lgbtq+, and body positivity) in their new shows
Don’t credit Cartoon Network, credit the creators of the shows.
No, do credit CN, they’re the ones allowing it. Plenty of creators have tried to get stuff like this through, only to be met with “can we make it more… white? and less gay?”
The Gravity Falls team tried to sneak in little old lady lesbians, no kissing, not even talking, on-screen for two seconds, but Disney didn’t allow it. It’s absolutely amazing that a network aimed at children is giving its creators elbow room to make their shows inclusive.
Do credit CN. They’re doing what all the other networks should’ve been doing a long time ago.

Poverty and oppression make people fatter
A common fat-phobic belief is that fat people are fat because they overeat. A recent submission to @facebooksexism perfectly illustrates this stereotype and the harmful classist attitudes it perpetuates:
Like most fat-phobic beliefs, this stereotype is completely wrong.
It is well accepted in public health science that food insecurity – which is the lack of consistent, dependable access to enough food for active, healthy living – predicts higher body weight.
Some reasons for this association include:
Limited resources and lack of access to nutritious, affordable foods. Heavily processed, low-nutrition foods are usually cheaper, but are more calorie dense and less satisfying to eat.
Cycles of food deprivation and overeating. Low income people often run out of money for necessities like food before their next paycheck arrives, resulting in extended periods of hunger and starvation followed by periods of compensatory eating when the paycheck arrives. Such eating patterns cause weight gain over time.
High levels of stress, anxiety, & depression, all of which cause physiological changes resulting in weight gain over time.
Limited access to health care. Many chronic health conditions, like polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, and type II diabetes, cause weight gain when left untreated.
All of this means that systematic oppression causes people to be fat for reasons that are outside of their personal control, and that poor fat people are not lying when they report that they cannot afford to put food on the table. Stop spreading the harmful, oppressive, and fat-phobic belief that you can judge a person’s nutrition or eating habits by the size of their body.

Living healthy is expensive. You can go to McDonald’s and feed an entire family for $10.
IN OUR SOCIETY IT COSTS MORE TO BE “FIT” AND EAT HEALTHILY THAT’S JUST A FACT
