The stamina system. Stamina usage for every attack or roll being high, and higher for successive combos or roll spam makes for more strategic combat. You are made to think more for ever action and punished for panicking or over extending. This ties into the next point -

Combat pacing! It being slower and more methodical is a huge plus for me. While I enjoy the insanity of elden ring combat, ds2 combat feels more like . Idk how to put it. Less like fantasy battle and more like HEMA. Its not as much of a dps race and stagger fest, we’re THINKING. I like that.

ADP. Starts way too low, as many will state, but being able to manipulate your i-frames that much is the kindest soulsgame mechanic and I will not back down on. Getting my agility to 113 is the only reason I could beat sir alonne

Dislikes:

The shallowness of the world. You really feel the cut dev time in NPCs and map design. Everything is straight forward and one note and fails to deliver on potential. Map design only gets souls-y in the dlcs where they clearly had more time to work on the interconnectedness.

Boss bloat. The number in and of itself is not too bad. But how simple many are IS. Ds1 also has lame bosses so I can’t judge it too much but the Rotten, looking glass knight, and nashandra stand out to me as having really simple movesets and baller designs. Attack patterns are simple but lack something in the way of telegraphing and flourish. Just. Missing something.

you might be totally correct that your ship would be narratively satisfying. I don't know, I'm not watching your show. Whether your ship is likely to happen on the show is a whole different question to whether it's satisfying, because the show is being sold to Netflix or Amazon or the BBC, and they are purchasing a show they think they can market to a particular demographic and that demographic isn't you, the nightmarishly online tumblr user. The show is being made for marketability to a constructed average viewer. It is being funded with that audience in mind. This art is being made to commission, and commissioned art is art, but at some point you have to stop expecting the Church to commission a statue of Lucifer fucking St Michael. It might be narratively satisfying, but that's just not what they're paying for.
