some bubby autism thoughts bc not nearly enough ppl talk about how autistic he is LIKEEE

okay the whole 'Gordon, The Hole!' bit is textbook autism like... its a mix of bubby being a smug bastard and also him just freaking the hell out. instead of him saying, like, 'gordon the pipe we are in will Fall watch your step' his brain immediately fixates on the result instead of how to prevent it. so bubby is TRYING to warn gordon but his brain is like 'The Hole. Theres A Hole. Theres A Hole Gordon'.

being Specific about things is HARD when the situation is urgent so your brain kinda short circuits and you focus on the easiest thing to say. it didn't help that gordon kept saying 'what hole?' (vague question with a lot of potential answers) instead of 'where is the hole?' (specific question with specific answer.)

theres also a scene where bubby is about to run through some red lasers that will trigger a trap. gordon is like 'DONT DO THAT last time it triggered a trap!' and bubbys immediate train of thought is 'those lasers were blue and these ones are red. because of that difference there will be a different outcome.' (then it turns out to be, unsurprisingly, the same outcome.)

this ones a little harder to explain but its a lot like how autistic ppl sometimes take things literally, linked with how autistic ppl tend to problem solve a lot differently than neurotypicals. the last lasers were differenr than the ones hes currently dealing with, kiiinda makes sense to assume theyd have a different outcome.

its a mix of Bubby Dumbass Moment (bc he is VERY concussed) and also can be seen as autism moment like im certain ive done some similar stupid problem solving BS like that and so has every other autistic person ive known HDKSDBDK

bubby is very loud and doesn't really know When to stop talking when he starts. the whole 'do you know what its like to have someone follow you and Not Shut Up' bit from act 3 is mostly him being an asshole but i like to think he kiiinda also falls into that Autism Mood of like... either hes completely nonverbal and trying to talk just makes him kinda pissy OR he WILL talk Forever and he will not be able to tell if ppl are uninterested.

alongside bubby Loud momence, hes also very vocal n expressive n makes a lot of noises. like hes like. hyperexpressive, almost, making vague noises in place of describing how hes feeling with words. or even just. screaming for the sake of screaming.

ALSO echolalia moments. when gordon is all like 'wahhh!' at the explosion, bubby is actualy the one that makes the anime 'wahhh!' noise, not tommy..! he also sometimes copies some Coomer Phrases in the heist stream.

this one is more of a headcanon-headcanon like theres no evidence for this one aside from him just having The Vibes

but bubby is 100% the type to just. walk away from someone in the middle of a conversation. like yall will be talking and then, if theres like... a very small lull or even No lull in the conversation at all he'll just walk away. no goodbye or anything hes just Done!

its not because hes being rude or anything, or at least hes not Trying to be rude (altho sometimes he Does do it on purpose), he just kinda figures the conversation is done for him so he leaves. even if its not really like,, Socially Acceptable or Polite or whatever. hes got Things to Do!

hes so fucking stubborn and is a massive perfectionist. he'll be working on something and if things are no better than Perfect he WILL have a mini meltdown and ppl WILL have to step in and finish whatever he was working on for him. dude tries frying some eggs and the yolk ends up breaking and he almost has a panic attack over it
