Since y’all seemed to like the comic I made with Metal and the Chaos Emeralds, here’s a few headcanons I have about the shiny rocks of the Sonic franchise:

- The Chaos Emeralds are not entirely sentient, per se. They have an ego, they clearly make decisions and act, but they don’t possess deeper intelligence or, more importantly, empathy. Their intelligence is solely spawned from the sheer amount of power between them, and it is solely dedicated to being a force of chaos, not necessarily good or evil. Positive chaos energy doesn’t necessarily have to come from good intentions, just good emotions.

- The Master Emerald is far more intelligent, but also far less “talkative” to its users. Though that might be because most of the time, it’s used by unfeeling machines. Knuckles is so defensive of it and unwilling to let anyone use it because it’s seductive call of power is what destroyed his clan, and quite literally at that.

- Super states achieved through the Master Emerald alone aren’t full super states, which is why they aren’t ever quite to the same level as their chaos emerald contemporaries.

- The Phantom Ruby is also an ego-stone- but rather than representing chaos, it is the embodiment of order. It gravitates to machines and eggman, and seems to go out of control whenever whatever is wielding it somehow manages to lose- a shimmering, perfectly symmetrical and enchanting gemstone serving as a direct counter to the Chaos emeralds (which is why it could pierce super states and cause the master emerald to fall from the sky)

- The Chaos Emeralds do not hold any true allegiance for Sonic. He just happens to align with their goals of chaos. The same goes for why he’s never used the Phantom Ruby- its sense of order is repelled by his chaotic, carefree nature.

I applaud you for creating Metamy content. And all of them are fantastic. Seriously, your stories are fantastic. Have you ever considered posting the drabbles on ao3? Even if you don't, all of them are so cute and fluffy and exactly what I want in these stories.

I do, actually! My ao3 is linked on my tumblr. Most of my writing efforts end up there- when I get the time to, anyways.
