Just wanted to announce that I got married a couple days ago (to a real person lol)!!

I was thinking that I was gonna do some sort of MysMe wedding headcanon post but that clearly never happened… I also don’t think any of them could top my wedding. But yay for happy times!

Sorry for never posting here anymore, I’m just no longer a big social media poster for reasons, plus I have been busy with my real life. I do still like MysMe despite not playing it in a long time.

I guess mostly MysMe just doesn’t serve much of a purpose for me anymore, given that I live with my now FIANCÉ (we’ve been together for over 15 and a half years!!) and that we’re currently in the thick of wedding planning. Maybe I’ll do a wedding headcanon post to celebrate at some point? But otherwise I don’t really anticipate actively posting here anymore.

So I just realized that Yoosung and MC have more agency in his route than any of the other characters do in their own routes. Reflecting back, it kinda seems like with everyone else, MC enters the stage and the remaining pieces fall one by one into place. Meanwhile, in Yoosung’s route, MC is a majorly important puzzle piece, but it’s up to the two of them to complete the puzzle.

(It admittedly has been a while since I’ve played any of the routes so my memory could be off lol)

Ray’s After Ending

Spoilers follow.

So, I finished it last night. I initially got the infamous bad relationship ending and thus had to do a speed run to get the good ending. I’m still trying to process it to be honest, so the following may just be a jumbled mess of thoughts. I’m not really going to try to put it in paragraph form at the time of writing; perhaps I’ll go back and edit this later.

This after ending is what the Secret Endings and V’s after end should have been. Everyone knows the truth, nobody (well except V) is defending Rika or trying to get you to forgive her, and it’s actually well written.

I appreciated that Rika’s road to resolution was messier in this because... that’s life. She didn’t just shut down like she did in V’s after ending.

I feel like I learned more about Seven’s past in this than in his actual route which is saying something.

I still don’t like Seven romantically but I appreciate him as a friend/brother in law.

The art was so good in this... like... so good. Saeran now has 5 kiss CGs if you include the bad end one from his route.

It was so sad :’( Saeran was basically spending that time getting all his ducks in a row because he thought he was going to die

I’m also sad that this is probably it for Mystic Messenger...

If Cheritz did decide to expand further with Mystic Messenger, I do have a few suggestions:

Yoosung DLC explaining what happened in the four years between his good end and after end... considering he decided to be a patissier in Saeran’s AE I can’t help but wonder why he still decided to be a vet even after letting go of Rika. (Maybe Cheritz did that because Jaehee already had the café?) With spicy Yoosung content, please.

One final ending, truly final, where MC chooses their true end.

Next generation AU, where MC dates the RFA’s kids.

Entirely new story with a new cast, but the same basic premise of MC entering a mysterious chat room with a bunch of hotties.

But yeah... if this is the end for Mystic Messenger... I’ll be sad. I’ll miss it. It helped me through a time where I was very lonely, and it’s helped me through the pandemic. Thank you Cheritz for creating this game.

Thoughts so far on Saeran After End (on day 2)

I no longer trust V; I know he’s had a difficult past with Rika but now I feel like he’s an accomplice to her actions and really only cares about what she wants instead of what’s best for everyone

Also Rika makes me angry, but it’s in a good way if that makes sense...? Like, she’s sticking to her guns (even though they’re the guns of evil) instead of... well, guilting you into forgiveness like she did in V’s after ending.

I kinda ship Seven and Vanderwood now??? They have way more chemistry than Seven ever did with MC.

Played Jumin Bad End DLC and I definitely have some thoughts.

First, since Zen, Seven, and now Jumin all have spicy CGs/DLC, can we please get some spicy Yoosung content??? Please?!

Now for the actually important stuff...

Bad ending 2 is still a bad ending, and this DLC doesn’t change that. I suppose Jumin’s mommy issues were revealed/resolved in this but he and MC are still very codependent on each other at the end. Sure, the good end in his route isn’t really a perfect ending because they get engaged super fast, but at least MC stands up for herself and lovingly puts Jumin in his place. I wouldn’t be surprised if she encouraged him to see a therapist and for the two of them to go to couple’s counseling prior to getting married. At least in the good ending Jumin would have actually taken action on her suggestions I feel.

Jumin definitely has a very strange relationship with both of his parents. I do kinda see more of where his issues with women come from, since his mother pretty much married his father for financial reasons. I wonder if maybe that’s where his father’s issues stem from as well, or at least if that was the catalyst. Like maybe he felt deprived of love, married Jumin’s mother, she broke his heart, so now he’s gone off the deep end sorta thing?

Also, unrelated to the story, but I did not really like the design for Jumin’s mother. I would have expected much fancier clothing and hairstyle, perhaps even a manicure. I feel like they put more effort into side characters like Sarah and Glam Choi, Echo Girl, etc. when they have smaller roles in the overall arch for Jumin (or in the case of Echo Girl, Zen). Jumin’s mother is a more important character but her design is just so... boring... bland... just because she’s old doesn’t mean she can’t be stylish.

So, if you don’t know by now, I hate Seven’s route with a burning passion and think it was poorly written. Here’s my attempt at kinda... rewriting it. I frankly don’t have the time, energy, or desire to make a full novel of it, so I’m just putting down ideas more than anything else.

Anyways...

Make MC more assertive instead of being a doormat.

Seven should go more into detail on why he’s dangerous and what sorts of things he’s done as a secret agent. ‘Show not tell’ sorta thing.

MC initially has feelings for Seven; in bad end 2, she is still acting on those feelings and they become a co-dependent couple.

To get the normal/good end, MC stands up for herself and demands that either Seven talk to her about what’s wrong or to leave. They have an argument. Seven eventually apologizes and admits he has feelings for her too, but MC says that she doesn’t want to be in a relationship with him at this time.

Seven decides to go rescue Saeran. MC agrees to go with him as a friend.

In the normal/good end, Seven and MC are friends, maybe best friends even, but there’s nothing romantic between them at that point.

Don’t really know what would happen with the after end, but they definitely don’t sleep with each other.

With the Secret Endings, V gets to live because... c’mon, was there really a reason for him to die? Yoosung and Zen know the actual truth about Rika and Yoosung’s hurt, angry, and in shock. Rika goes to prison and is mandated to go to therapy. Seven quits his job at the agency.

Seven supports Saeran in healing, and MC supports Seven. Eventually Saeran heals enough for Seven to be able to focus on other things. At this point, Seven revisits the possibility of a relationship with MC, and she agrees.

Secret Endings end a few years later with Seven proposing to MC.

Did another V route run, this time a speed run to get his bad ends and normal end... I somehow failed to get his last bad end even though I was following a guide. However, I’m not going to try again. It doesn’t have a CG like his other two, and now I have all of the CGs in his album so... this means I probably won’t play his route again.

Honestly the more time I spend away from his route the more frustrated I become. It’s pretty clear that Cheritz never even intended for him to have a route and I don’t think they wanted to but did it for the fans...

Also, I’m upset with his first bad end because there’s a picture of MC and Rika in bed together, but Jaehee, who’s actually a good person, at most gets a CG of MC kissing her on the cheek, and not even for the main story, but the Christmas DLC!!! People are upset about V not getting a kiss CG, but Jaehee barely has any CGs with MC in them to begin with! I’m upset about this!!!!

I currently live with my SO, SO’s best friend, and his girlfriend. The other day, SO’s best friend was like “wow it’s hot in here!” and started going around and opening all the windows in the house, while my SO was trailing behind him and closing each window that was opened, and this cycle continues multiple times.

I imagine something similar happening with Seven and Saeran, with Seven opening the windows and Saeran right behind him closing them, and the mental image is hilarious.

So I finished Ray route... and as Jumin put it after exploring “Tripter”/“blue bird”...

Truly though, it was a beautifully written route... I loved it. I honestly thought it was better than V’s route, and now Ray/Saeran has replaced Jumin as my #2 MysMe guy. Yoosung’s still my #1 but Saeran is a fairly close second...

I was very surprised; I didn’t think I would like him this much, especially considering that I was very annoyed by him in V’s route. I honestly didn’t even care about him before taking on his route. What has happened to me...

The one thing I was not a fan of was that V basically went back to Rika... like, was it a situation where they are actually back together as a couple, or simply one where they have reconciled and are simply cleaning up messes, but have no romantic relationship? I don’t get it. I suppose we’ll find out whenever Ray’s after ending is released... I need his after end now...

It was, however, immensely satisfying to see just how vicious Rika truly is. I feel you get even more of the villain feeling in this route, where in V’s route it feels really more like an intense ex-couple’s squabble, which got old very fast. Maybe that’s why I’m not terribly fond of V’s route.

If Yoosung and Jumin Switched Places...

So, some time ago, I made this post about an AU where MC and Jumin switch life places, resulting in Jumin becoming a skeleton in Rika’s apartment.

Then I started playing Ray’s route, and witnessed Yoosung pretending to be Jumin in order to help Zen with his acting. That made me wonder what would happen if Yoosung and Jumin switched life places instead...

Yoosung obviously becomes the new chairman, and he gives Jaehee all the vacations. He falls in love with and marries MC. They still adopt Seven who has turned into a cat. Zen is still glad to not be hearing from Jumin anymore.

Jumin still starves to death and becomes a skeleton, just in Yoosung’s old apartment. Yoosung took his gaming equipment with him because he just couldn’t leave it behind and figured Jumin would find another way to occupy his time, such as... like... learning to cook or something. Yoosung continues paying the bills because now he can afford to. V occasionally visits Jumin, but of course still doesn’t notice that Jumin has died and has become a skeleton.

So either way, Jumin is doomed to become a skeleton.
