through months of experimentation on my own body im slowly developing a Game Changing combination of supplements + coffee that will give me enough energy to get shit done until the doctors figure out what’s wrong with me.

Today’s trial was a moderate success, I feel Somewhat less tired than I usually do at this time after my Current Ultimate Combo. The only downsides are that it didn’t do anything for my ability to focus, I just rapidly flip between wanting to run around at Super Sonic Speeds or sitting and doing absolutely nothing. Perhaps I have some sort of Executive Function Disorder or Severe Brain Fog.

Further testing is required.

potentially controversial take but as much as I think stuff depicting Nine and Sonic as brothers or having Nine find his own “Sonic” can be cute I kind of wish Nine could exist without having to be the younger brother to anyone if that makes sense

Omg, yes. I love Nine on his own. I love Tails on his own (in aus and such). I also love Sonic+Tails/Nine a duo. But the idea of every version of Tails, in every universe, *needing* to "find a Sonic" or having a cosmic "destiny" of meeting him in some way is generally unappealing to me. (Tbh this goes for any duo/"unbreakable bond", not just Sonic/Tails). I dunno how to explain it, but it's almost... Discouraging? Like he has no chance unless this particular circumstance is met. Or something? Idk.

And yeah, I just like the idea of Nine making it on his own. Or forming relationships with other characters instead. Rusty+Nine and Knux+Nine are super interesting in particular and I've seen some cool art/fics of those duos! But anyway, yeah, I like Nine just existing without needing to be any more of a mirror to Tails than he already is, especially when it comes to Sonic. I really like the messy dynamic they had in the show. I always viewed it as Nine really wanting Sonic as his super cool friend, while Sonic of course saw him through a brotherly lens because of Tails.

I hope I didn't hijack your post too much, OP; I mostly just wanted to agree with you! (Also, of COURSE no shade on Sonic+Nine as brothers- there is a lot of amazing fics/art/ect that I love! So much cute fluff... and so much good angst! But yeah, just a big fan of Nine doing his own thing, too :])

hi hi sorry i didnt respond to this before! i’ve been a bit busy :-)

but yeah basically all of this!! In terms of Nine and Tails being mirrors of eachother too, I feel like you’re losing something if you make Nine too similar to Tails with his relationship to Sonic. I think it’s more interesting having Nine bring out the side of Tails without Sonic we don’t get to see as often!

Ideally too (at least in my opinion) Nine would get a chance to become more secure in himself and his relationships and heal from how Sonic treated him during Prime… like, being forced into that ‘little brother’ role didn’t really do him any good, so imo it doesn’t make much sense to put him in that situation again when it caused him so many identity issues and stress…? if that makes sense? Not to say that he couldn’t eventually grow into that role more naturally, of course. But i definitely don’t think it would be immediate.

Nine needs a friend more equivalent to himself first, is basically what I’m getting at… hmmmm 👀 i wonder if there’s another twin-tailed genius who fits the bill 👀… (surely none of this will be addressed in the AU im working on… hehe)
