I have to say this film is my partial nightmare realized. What happens when you don’t love your child? Are mothers directly responsible for monstrosity in murders? How much of the blame does a mother deserve/accept/suffer? These are questions explored but never answered in Lynne Ramsay’s character portrait. Visceral, poetic images, haunting characterization.

No doubt this film provoked an unsettling reaction out of me because I’m quite terrified of being responsible for another human being that I might completely loathe, but I’m sure this film would provoke others purely because of it’s subject matter. Unfortunately, it’s a topic that hasn’t disappeared from US headlines. An absolute must-watch. 8/10

Teen Witch (1989)

ah my god, this movie is amazing and so wonderfully terrible. Those outfits, those hip-hop dance numbers, her little brother!! I will say I love how sex positive this movie was, even they never actually addressed anything real, props to this movie for explaining the birds & the bees - even if it was half-assed. Solid watch for a hungover sunday but can’t be too bothered to pay attention to plot. It’s really pretty terrible in a delightfully cult way. 5/10
