You can say that nothing’s changed, really. Everything seemed to happen like clockwork—today, is no exception. Another day passed, the student’s flooding out and chattering after the last class ended, her spot within those floods of students. Yes, everything seemed to be unchanged… Though she couldn’t stop counting cases that would be opposite to that statement..
But, she wasn’t one to dwell on things like that.Â
“Next time, I promise~” She couldn’t help the giggles that escaped from her, just watching a friends’ face puff in pouts. It was always the reaction to her gently declining offers to go somewhere, or stay back with the person of the day. So there she went, trot, trot, quickly escaping into the sun-washed courtyard while shooting a wave and smile—
Yes, just another normal day.
He startled back into reality, hearing the age old bell ring as class was dismissed — he hadn’t realized it was in-session until now. He ducked out of sight, allowing students to pass him by. It was surreal watching them all, unique as they were, go from school onto their social lives. It was jarringly familiar to his past life here at this academy; the many dates and karaoke sessions he had. The cafe trips and visiting each other’s dorms. It made him ache far worst than he had before.
Still he watched unable to stop himself, clinging to memories that were best left forgotten. And it would’ve remained that way if he had not caught the glimpse of soft blond hair catching sun’s light.Â
The familiar bout of laughter, the warm smile gracing her face as she rushed off, waving off invitations from friends to go to one of her many booth sessions. The way honey-brown eyes shined in midday’s sun, or how her hair curled around her shoulders — the lack of blue in her hair sent his heart asunder.Â
He had forgotten how beautiful she looked.
Shun’s mouth opened to speak up, hand raising to call out to her and tell her that he was here. That he still had her ribbon, had never left it behind like he had left her, like he left everyone. His voice suddenly soundless. The effort to lift his hand was monumental and he could not bring himself to call attention to himself. Had he earn her gaze, her warmth, her compassion? Had he the right to intrude on her life now without him?
Would she even remember him?
These thoughts never waned even as she faded from his line of sight, lost to the crowd of students. He wondered if she missed him the way he missed him.
