Fred - © 2016 MIchael F. Hiatt Poor Fred. Although he won the Biggest Boar contest at the 2016 Iowa State Fair, he soon had to contend with many a photog taking unglamerous pics of him. Even when he needed a well deserved nap. Not only that, Lugnut, the second place winner continued to try and steal his thunder. Hang in there buddy.

2016 10 x 10 Project
For 2016 I will be working on a 10 x 10 project - 10 subject of 10 images each. The goal is to focus more on the storytelling possibilities of shooting a group of images instead of stand alone photographs. My next series is Nomade.
Nomade
Pappajohn Sculpture Park, Des Moines, Iowa
The John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park opened in Des Moines in 2009. It's located on 4 1/2 acres in the heart of downtown. One of the most visible and iconic pieces is Nomade, by Jaume Plensa. Known as the Letterman by most people, it's become a mecca for pictures and is one of the most photographed locations in town. I tried to approach it with fresh eyes and perspective.
Nomade was created in 2007. It's letters are made of painted stainless steel. It was a gift of John and Mary Pappajohn to the Des Moines Art Center.
I was able to shoot most of these shots on a cloudless day right around noon. Really added to the high contrast I was after.
