#SPOTTED!
The first artist to have been #Spotted by Art Retail Network, and will receive a free membership to our network is photographer Mhairi Law from Edinburgh.
We saw Mhairi’s image series In The Lay Of The Land featured in the Futureproof 2014 exhibition at Glasgow’s StreetLevel Photoworks gallery. Mhairi’s project highlights a new generation of people living on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Having chosen to remain or return to Lewis, they have overcome and embraced their geographic isolation and the relatively fewer opportunities that the island has to offer.
Mhairi perfectly captures the landscaped vistas of the island and how this new generation of islanders are enriching their local culture and community with energy and enterprise.
Currently on display at Streetlevel Photoworks, Glasgow, Mhairi is building upon this body of work, culminating as part of a collaborative exhibition at An Lanntair Arts Centre in Stornoway in September 2014.
Mhairi speaks in more depth about her project here at The Island Review
