Progress with kitties. Time patience and love. 3 week later you get this.

For the first time in ages we are fostering a mum and 3 kittens who were under a shed. Mum is so placid and living and she has 3 feral kittens about 4 weeks. After a week of swaddling they are now looking to get picked up and cuddled. “Aye, she’ll serve. Her dam made it through the blight, and she’s thrown two colts of her own. Sturdy, sensible, just like their mam.” Dennet delivered a hearty slap to the tall mare’s flank. “She’ll be rock-solid when the rebels come screaming at you.” Aria twitched her hide as if dislodging a fly, then chewed the bit once with a slobbery crunch.

Cullen accepted the reins resolutely. “I’m beholden to your expertise, Master Dennet. I haven’t had much use for an agile mount in the past few years.” He glanced down at his boots with a hesitant, rueful smile. “The last horse I trusted was our cart pony out in West Hills.”

Aria chose that moment to toss up her head and lip at Cullen’s ear, rooting her bristly nose into his hair. Dennet barked out a rusty laugh at Cullen’s consternation. “Don’t fret, Commander, Aria’s the motherly type, see? She’ll look after you!”
