I really hate people acting as if Daenerys being a Targaryen is a stain on her or something that she should "atone" for.
Daenerys was so far disconnected from her heritage, family, and legacy that this girl didn’t even know how to properly use the painted table at Dragonstone because no one was there to teach her. She is the literal antithesis of her entire family because she cares about people. Every action she takes is to the benefit of someone else, especially in the early seasons when she’s realizing that her power can equate to the freedom of other people. The entire eighth season is literal trash because her personality does a complete 180. The entire time she’s built up to be completely different than every other Targaryen. Can she be cruel? Absolutely, but so can every other character in this story. That’s the reality of a medieval fantasy show. In the reality of being human because we all have those capabilities inside of us whether we act on them or not.
And on that same thought process, Jon should have to “atone” too because, hello, he’s a Targaryen. But no one mentions that. They only do it for Daenerys because… *checks notes*…she’s a woman.
