Animation edit

This is the second part of the Synchresis project I had to do during this semester. The task was to edit all animations that were made by all of the people on the course. During watching all of those animations and choosing ones I would like to use in the edit, I noticed that most of the projects show things that can be seen in the reality, like rain, fish, dominos etc. I found it really beautiful and decided to edit animations in a way to show all those small things, to show how interesting the world is. The music used to this project I found on Yutube and I decided it matches the project perfectly. The emotional melody, gives the feeling of animations being epic and awesome, like in a movie trailer. I really like the outcome and I enjoyed the process of editing as well.

3d animation - “Drop”

This is the 2nd out of 3 3d animations I have to do for the Sound module. I wanted to try to do something made out of glass, because for me, it’s a quite hard material to reproduce. I decided to animate the glass vase falling, mainly because I found a nice sound effect I wanted to use. I really like the outcome, even thought it looks a little dark because of the color choice I still think it fits tho the project aesthetic. I really like the vase and how it looks like. It’s not a perfect glassy look but it’s similar to and I spent many hour to create this one object.

Final 3d animation - “Bing”

Here you can see the improved version of “Bing” animation. After reading some tips on the Maya website, and experimenting I was able to create this piece of animation. Now it’s much more visible.

Here you can see the first modelling. At first I wanted to put metal balls on ropes and make them swing until they hit each other but it turned out to be a little difficult. Also, the outcome with ropes hasn’t look very good and realistic so I changed the scenery and made balls turn towards each other.

3d animatio - “Bing”

This is the first version of the first 3d animation to the sound. As it can be seen the scene is too dark, as I still struggle with lighting. Despite that one problem I enjoy the outcome, and I think it looks quite good. I am going to improve the lighting as soon as possible. This scene took me around 7 hours as I am still very unexperienced and I need time to learn.

2D animation - “Slurp”

This is the 3rd out of 3 shape animations I have to make in order to complete the project for the Sound Design & Editing Module. I got the idea for this in the middle of the night. I thought it would be funny to see the color being drained out of the shape. I created this animation and I really enjoyed the outcome so I added it to the final version of the project.

Shape animation - “Splash”

This is the 2nd out of 3 shape animations I have to make to complete the project. It took me a while to find the idea how to animate the sound “splash”. I’ve chosen this sound because I just like it and really wanted to use it. Then I opened the illustrator and started to draw shapes like circles and squares, but I deleted them immediately because they were too simple and boring. Finally, I tried to create a heart which went really well, and I animated it in After Effects. I really like the outcome, and I even sent it as a response to my friend’s question “How does the love dies?”

Shape animation - “Pip”

This is the 1st out of 3 animation I have to make in order to complete the project. The inspiration for this piece were couple of intros I found on youtube when I was looking for some inspirations for this project. I really liked the idea of simple shapes, splitting and changing their colour which leads to creation of something new. I decided to do something similar to those intros, and you can see the outcome.

Shape animation - test

This is a little test animation I created using Adobe Illustrator and After effects. I am quite experienced in animating in After effects but I wanted to check if I am able to create something to music. I cut out the first part out of the song “Chicago” by Sufjan Stevens and created this little piece of video. The outcome was exactly like I wanted it to be, so I decided to start making actual animations for projects.

Hand drawn animation - Part 2 “Ta-da”

This is the 2nd out of 3 animation I have to create in order to complete the project. When I was scrolling through the list with onomatopoeias, I noticed the sound “ta-da”. I immediately recalled the movie “Desciable Me” and the scene where minions say “ta-dah”. I downloaded this sound and created this cute animation with the green blob showing a plant on it’s head. The design of the character is completely my own. I created it by drawing the random shapes in the photoshop. The outcome you can see in the animation. I immersed rectangle and circle in one shape and added details to make the blob more round and friendly looking. I added the hat and a plant, after couple of minutes of thinking about what could I show in 3 seconds. I had the idea to create something funny, by showing something abstract. I think the final animation looks quite good. It looks how I expected it to, and it’s as funny and I wanted it to be.

Inspiration

This is the video I was assigned to watch. I really enjoyed it and this is probably my main inspiration to make the project. I like the way how the sounds are arranged together with the animation. Also the art style of this video is really pleasing and I also wanted to create something similar to this style.
