(sorry if this this is gonna sound weird, english is not my first language).
To all non american queer/lgbt+ folks (including myself): it's good to learn and know our history, of course. It's good to remember those who fought before us. It's good to remember Stonewall and every trans, gay, lesbian, ace hero there is. It's good to share and reblog positive and/or informative content, it really is. Especially this year I think we should focus on including, supporting and protecting our black trans and queer siblings, so use the hashtags #blacktranslivesmatter #blackgaylivesmatter #blacklivesmatter ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
But! Don't let this website guilt trip you! USA (...or Canada...) is not the only country in the world. What I mean is, it's ok if you don't know -or reblog- every single piece of lgbt content you come across this month. Most of it is american centered, which makes sense because Tu//mblr itself is american centered.
So don't feel guilty for ignoring a "IF YOU IGNORE THIS POST YOU'RE A HORRIBLE PERSON/ EVERY LGBT+ MUST REBLOG" post, especially if you don't relate to it! Every queer experience is valid and unique! So this month, if you can, learn about your own country's lgbt history. Africa. Asia. Oceania. Europe. Wanna share it on Tu//mblr? Go ahead! I know it can be more difficult to some than to others because homosexuality and gender transition are still illegal in too many countries. Not "discriminated against"- ILLEGAL. We still have a long way to go.
